eBay ClickAndSend 15kg downgrade to -> 1kg/3kg/5kg & 300% price increase! What are alternatives?

Oh no … I just realised that Australia Post removed the very generous weight limit of 15kg on their click& send system for their Bx1-3 parcels.
i was using this a bit and sending every now and then a 10kg BX2 box (for 11.70$ within Australia very good price).

A 10kg parcel to form Melbourne to Cairns would be now more than 44$ - a 300% price increase !!! Ahhh …

Does anyone know a good alternative … ???

Here is the official notice:

17 April 2014 – Important changes
Customers who are eBay sellers will notice that the maximum weight limits for Australia Post eBay Flat Rate boxes generated through ebay.com.au have been revised to 1kg (BX1), 3kg (BX2) and 5kg (BX4).

We have not been able to make the changes on both eBay and Click and Send at the same time due to technical constraints. We are working through this and will be able to confirm the timing once they are addressed.

We recognise that these changes may impact customers who are eBay sellers and are providing a grace period until 11 May 2014 where we will continue to accept items weighing up to 15kg in the three box sizes.

We apologise for not providing sufficient notice and for any inconvenience caused to eBay sellers.

Our company is using Courier Please.
It cost us about $12 for a docket up to 10 kg delivery to Sydney metro only.

I use Temando. Best thing I've ever found when it comes to my eBay store.

  • I'm not surprised this has happened to be honest. This was always too generous. And you know with Australia Post it just keeps going up and up. Basically it's everyone paying for all those cheap Chinese packages indirectly now.

Wow … thanks a lot for your help. Within a metro area everyone is fairly cheap … it gets expensive when you send 10kg over a long distance. www.e-go.com.au looks very reasonable priced and has no minimum purchase. Sounds good. Their website looks a bit outdated.

Temando and Packsend seem to give a nice comparison of options. But seem all fairly expensive for heavy items … but some options are always good.
I also checked out Couriers Please and they would be similar priced as Australia post for their EzySend product (might get cheaper when you open an account with them).

What annoys me a bit is that Australia Post still advertises on their Ebay Shop http://stores.ebay.com.au/australiapoststore/pages/australia… that the click and send works up to 15kg - even if it gets discontinued on the 12th May … false and misleading advertising by such a big company. Somebody should tell them off for that … people might still buy their bulk packs of boxes with the intention to use the cheap flat rate shipping up to 15kg.
