  • It seems whmcs doesn't allow free domain registrations :(

Its now set to $0.01, please order and use bank transfer and the invoice will be canceled and domain registered. Sorry about that guys!

    • Rep: I have registered my domain with payment type bank transfer. Still waiting for approval fro your guys. Can you please advise.

    • Rep, do we still have to pay $0.01, or would you automatically remove the payment later on?
Had submitted mine but the the status for domain is still pending and invoice is unpaid.

    Damn. webslice.net.au is taken already!

    • +1

offer to buy it from them for $0.01?

    • what about ozbargain.net.au?

  • Thanks!

I don't want to abuse the offer. Is there a limit to how many domains I can purchase or is it one per customer only?

  • +9

FYI most major registrars are likely to offer .net.au at $1 (for 2 years) for the month of May. It's an initiative from Ausregistry - https://www.ausregistry.com.au/getyournetau.

    • except this is free?

      • Evidently this offer was a calculated risk to absorb the $1 wholesale price and boost customer numbers. A bold move indeed.

        • Very bold, who would of thought of such an exciting and entrepreneurial marketing campaign. *tips fedora.

      Eligibility Type/Reason: Sole Trader

  • What other stuff do we need to buy to get a website up and running? This gives you free domain, what else do we need for a basic site?

  • +1

Dang, got excited and thought this was hosting. Nevertheless, nice deal.

  • +1

looks like not working anymore. domains stuck in pending for several hours

  • Sadly, I've no ABN.

  • Do I have to bank transfer the $0.01?

    • +1

      No

    • OP/Rep said they will cancel the 1c invoice. I hope so cause I have one sitting there. It's the biggest debt I have at the moment :P

Just have a back log at our end. Will process them all today.

    Sorry for the delays.

  • Do u protect the identities of your customers or will all our info be available on websites like who.is?

    • +1

Have a look at what info will be public:
      http://whois.ausregistry.com.au

    • +1

.au domains only show your name and ABN

      • Last time I signed up for a domain they put my name, address, email and phone number online. Don't remember now but I think I used urlspy.com or some other website to check website info.

        • +1

That information is supposed to be publicly available for any registered domain.

EDIT: .au domains don't show those details - all other domains do, sorry about the misinformation.

        • +1

normally with other TLD, you need to pay extra money to protect your details.

  • You can't get WHOIS protection for .au domains.

    • +4

This deal is expired then, you have to make a new one. All the + votes were for a free .net.au domain.

    • Yeah, not cool.

    • Hey Rep,

You mean you're no longer offering it for Free?

All the people you signed up when it was available for Free still get it for free right?

  • Price is gone up ….its $1.00 now….

  • +2

    Bait and switch anyone?

    • +1

Eh.. More like "limited availability". By the sounds of it a heap of people got free .net.au domains.

      • Still waiting for them to void the invoice.

  • +2

    expires in 31 days lol….lasted 4 hrs

  • +1

You really didn't think this through did you ?

  • +1

Why did you not think this through?

  • +1

    Bait and switch. Very misleading.

  • +2

No offence rep but are the domain names now being held hostage or something. Wheres the EPP code for the domains. Can't seem to find them anywhere. It's not like i will transfer them now but i like to keep my options open when i need too.

    • You can get the auth code from http://whois.ausregistry.com.au

      • Uhhh. What?

The domain auth code is not available through a Whois lookup… Otherwise anyone could transfer your domains!

        • Open a support ticket and I'll sent it right now.

        • I tried to register a domain before you changed it to $1, am I still going to get it free?

        • Just lodge a ticket and we can put it in manually.

        • +2

Actually if you click on "Recover Domain Password" on that link, AusRegistry would email the registrant the EPP. Basically for .au domains, registrars cannot hold domains hostage as registrants can get EPP directly from AusRegistry.

        • Interesting… Helpful assuming they've abided by the rules and put the correct details in for the registrant - I've seen a couple of companies put their own in!

  • What a dodgy company this appears to be! The link highlighted in the posting still advertises .net.au domains for free - even though the price has apparently magically risen to $1.

Even if you try to search for availability of a .net.au domain, the site only offers a .com.au domain at $30 for 2 years!

    • -2

      The page has been updated.

  • +2

    Just got an email..

    xxx.net.au has been successfully registered

    • -1

      Getting into that business, eh?

      • +1

I am sure he is just trying to catch typo traffic from Queenslanders looking for beer.

        • They have internet in Queensland?

  • +7

Please accept my apologies for having to withdraw the offer early, and lack of communication here.

I didn't expect the huge amount of orders for the offer. Basically, we have to pay full price for the domains with a rebate back at the end of the month. If we kept going we wouldn't be able to spend the rebate back over the next 12 months and that would have been a lot of cash tired up with our domain partner so that's poor planning on our side and I admit I made a mistake there.

Everybody that placed an order with legit details, that is a real name, address, phone number and a real ABN, ACN or business number (per the auDA policy linked to) and not fake details should have now received confirmation (2 are waiting manual approval by the registrar) that their domain has been successfully registered at no cost to them.

Those with fake details (aprox 92 orders) or no ABN/ACN/BN your order was canceled and/or account closed, any questions please open a ticket to discuss.

It has been a very positive learning experience for us, and I aim to bring a more "thought out" deal in the further!

    Cheers,
    Webslice

I think your honesty and openness is awesome - I jumped when i saw the deal as i knew it was too good to last. You posted it could be withdrawn early in your initial post and you seem to have been forthright at all stages despite scrambling to keep up.
Hopefully we will have a great relationship - thank you

any plans to launch more offers, for couple of hours , it was too little time to catch up to the deal.
