Paying 28 Degrees card via BSB/Account direct deposit

Just called up 28 Degrees to get the associated BSB/Account number for the account. It sounded like I was the first person ever to ask the question but eventually I heard it could be done using BSB 150615 and the account number.

Wouldn't mind verification from someone who actually uses BSB/Acct instead of BPAY to pay into the account. Does that sound right?

just out of curiosity, why do you want to pay via direct deposit?

Aren't those two items the same as what you enter for BPay, and are printed on the statement? Though the acct number isn't necessarily the same as the CC number. I think it starts off the same when you are first issued your card but if the card gets replaced, then the CC number changes while the account number stays the same.

And like PissLUR I'm also curious what the advantage of DD is over BPay.

    • In addition to my purpose described a few posts down:

      i) Westpac's online banking (maybe others too?) doesn't allow one to set up recurring BPAY payments, only recurring payments to a BSB/Acct#.

ii) Can't do international transfers directly to the credit card, as BPAY is mostly unknown outside Australia, whereas BSB/Acct# you can.

DO NOT PAY BY THAT BSB NUMBER

It is not a valid BSB number. It is not in list of valid BSB numbers.
It is ONLY the BPay biller number

You have got to feel for the people who work in call centres and have to deal with questions like that all day.

What about the person who had to be on hold for an extra couple of minutes with a real problem?

As no one here will be able to verify. I think you should try it and report back the results :)

Why do you think it is an unreasonable question?

As said above, BSB not the same as BPay biller code.

Also my account number is not identical to my card number (the last 2 digits are different, and this is my first card with them). However I do also believe if you do use your card number it will still go through, will just take longer to clear. Once you have a statement though, it will have your account number so may as well do it correctly from the beginning.

It looks like she did give the BPAY biller details instead of the BSB, despite telling her I wasn't after BPAY. I'm glad I asked here.

I get this variable payment once a month from a company which I use to use to reduce the credit card balance. They require my BSB/Acct #.

At the moment I have to manually BPAY this amount. I don't wish to set up a recurring BPAY as I don't have a set amount I transfer - it's whatever I get from the company.

This direct transfer from the company will also ensure I don't accidentally miss the minimum payment date, as I see 28 Degrees has a $25 charge for that.

No big deal, I just like to cut steps out here and there.

  • how do we pay off our balance before our statement arrives to avoid the 0.5% shoppers insurance premium?

I just had that completely turned off. I wasn't particularly impressed it was on by default.

    • Check how much you have sitting on the card before statement date (which shouldn't change each money e.g. always 25th of the month), and pay that amount onto the card?

I don't remember it being on by default - I had to call up to activate it.

I had to call up to deactivate it. :)
