AirAsia Cancellation

Hi guys,

I have booked a flight from Sydney to KUL in the evening 22nd May 2014 and recently got an alert email from AirAsia saying my flight has been cancelled due to the commercial reasons.

My flight was going to fly out on the 22nd at around 9.55pm and arriving in KUL at 4am (23rd) for an interconnecting flight to HCM City at 7.05am.

I did write the airline with my new times 5 days ago but still haven't got any response.
Does anyone have any experiences how to contact them by phone with the contact #?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  • Similar happened to me, but while I was in Vietnam, and with only a week until the flight.
I emailed them twice a day, and hassled their FB and twitter feed.
After 4 days they responded with the details, then proceeded to continue responding to the 8 other messages I had sent. I think the people doing the re-booking just have a mountain of work and take ages to get through it.
I didn't bother contacting them by phone, as previous attempts to get a result for other issues via the call center were very unsatisfactory (like wait 30mins in a queue before being cut off several times).
It's the peril of the cheap flight, unfortunately.
In our case the changed arrangements meant a 10 hour transit at KL LCCT. Be thankful they should be in KLIA2 by the time you go ;-)

    • Thanks for the reply.
That's true, I try to call on 1300 760330 yesterday but I was at work at the time, can't afford to wait more than 30 mins, so I hung up after a while on the queue.
How did you hassle them on FB?…LOL…I should do the way you did!
This morning I sent another email to remind them, see how things going?

  • 21st May D7221 is also cancelled

Usually logging in to My Booking on the airasia website
Have they given you an option to take the day Air Asia X flight?

    22MAY14
    D7223 10:55 SYD-KUL 17:30
    2h 10m Transit at KLIA2
    AK542 19:40 KUL-SGN 20:40

    • Yes, they did give me some new times, but actually earlier than the date (22nd) I have booked.
I rather prefer later because I can't take my leave earlier due to some commitments.
As you said go to the A/A website> my booking…..Can I choose another available times with associated connecting flight to SGN at no costs?

      Thanks in advance

  • +1

We had a similar problem a while back and this is the advice we were given on Tripadvisor.

    <Try emailing [email protected]
He responded to all my emails. If you send to [email protected] (the CEO) Amardeep replies even quicker (guess he knows the boss is watching).
Also a comment on your situation on AirAsia's facebook page might get a response too.>

We were successful in getting the flight time changed thanks to Amardeep who got it sorted for us very quickly. Even followed up with a phone call.

We found when we tried to change our flight from the booking ourselves it just charged for two new tickets but it was finally sorted to our satisfaction.

    • Thanks Nissa,
I just wrote another email to Arzan cc. to Armadeep as well. Hope this help!

      • Yesterday Airasia has replied!…Thank you all

  • I now think this has happened to by booking, after doing a search on my flight on airasia.com from Sydney to Burma and it is no longer showing up in the search

    18th August 9:25PM
    D7 221
    SYD - KUL

But i have not received any email or call telling me it has been canceled.

    • If the flights schedules are cancelled then most probably they're sending notifications in batches, for example if the cancellation starts with flights from June obviously they;ll send to the affeected passengers in June before moving on to July and August.

  • They've cancelled my flight D7 221 27th May too. Sounds like they're reducing the frequency of the SYD-KUL route. What's annoying is that their flight schedules page hasn't been updated and it's still showing daily frequency of D7 221 when judging from this thread, it's clearly not (http://www.airasia.com/au/en/where-we-fly/flight-schedule.pa…).

  • My flight was also cancelled Syd to Kul for the 23rd of May. I called the call center yesterday and apparently it's possible to change to a later date with no extra charge, at least that's what i was told yesterday. Either that or take credit which really doesn't appeal.

  • Just wrote to them on Facebook.

"Hi David, yes this flight has been cancelled; we do apologise for the inconvenience, our preflight team is in the process of notifying affected guests from date of departure at the moment, so this is why you may not have been notified of this yet, but our team will be contacting any affected guests accordingly."

Yes, they must be reducing frequency because the day flight that leaves at 10:55am has also been cancelled on August 19th, and follows the same cancellation pattern each week. Ive flown with Air Asia about 20 times in the last 12 months, this is the first thing bad that has ever happened since booking with them.

Does anyone know how long it takes them to contact you after "We will escalate your booking details to our preflight team to assist you as soon as possible with this & options available. Thanks"

  • The same happened to me a few weeks ago. I noticed that my booked flight from Melbourne to KL in May disappeared from their booking site. I contacted them by phone, facebook, chat and email. They all confirmed my flight and promised me all is good.

A week later I received the notification email that the flight was cancelled with alternative options (re-book, credit on Airasia account or full refund).
Not very impressed with their service, but I was pretty sure that the flight was cancelled anyway in the first place…

I went for full refund as I booked a cheaper Jetstar flight to Singapore, so the Airasia cancellation was good for me.
It took them over a week to reply to my refund request and apparently it takes up to 30 days to get the refund.

  • To anybody else having this problem please take nissa advice and contact [email protected]

Amazing service from him,i received a reply email within an hour of contacting him and then had a call on his behalf from malaysia to follow up to rebook my flight to my desired date.
