Maybe I'm lost but I don't see the benefit in buying Volume 1 and then a completely unrelated Volume 20 comic book.

  • Saga is a brilliant book. Highly recommend picking this up.

I think there should be no beat the average and at the most the whole lot for $1 as it's just a marketing gimmick to get people to sample before they commit to the series

Next they will be having a humble TV show series and only offering episode 1of the series, pay a bomb and get episodes 1 and 20 of another

Its more like they offered all of season one, and then people still have the nerve to complain that its a gimmick to get them to by season 2.

if you place so little value on the comic industry, then this thread is probably not for you.

      • Walking Dead is regularly on sale on Comixology too. So if you liked Vol 1 then you can buy the others fairly cheaply.

Or if you've been following the TV show, it's up to around issue 55 or so (give or take I don't have my books on me).

    $15 dollar tier again!?! sigh….

I wouldn't bother with Walking Dead. Good series but not for Vols 1 and 20. Buy the Compendiums for about $45 delivered (48 issues).

Saga, Revival and Chew are fabulous though. Well worth the price just for that.

Good deal, just wish it came with Comixology codes

    • Same.. while I'm a fan of DRM free, I like Comixology and would prefer to just access them via the cloud.

      • Comixology used to be good before the recent change forcing to buy via the website & also the 30% price increase.

        • So buy off the website. I used to buy via the app with discounted cards. But for a while now it's just been easier to buy off the website as the app interface was balls. On iTunes any purchase over $3 was charged significantly higher anyhow. The 30% price increase is irrelevant as it was an Apple thing and as you can't buy via the app anyhow.

        • Yeah I guess I can see it from their point of view (the 30% tax on payments made thru iTunes / Google Play stores is pretty high), but it's annoying for me that I cannot buy through Google Play any more. Definitely means I will probably spend less money there overall.

        • I only buy in sales. Monday/Friday Marvel sales can be awesome. 99c issues.

I also buy Marvel codes from people on forums for $1 an issue and redeem them and read them on Comixology.

        • @SirFlibbled the good thing about buying thru Google Play for me was that I could bill straight to my phone, which has extra credit available every month anyway. So it was kinda 'free'-ish.

Sweet deal while it lasted, and kinda tough proposition to go from free-ish to not-so-free-ish.

        • Why should i have to buy from the website when the app was perfectly fine?

It's a backwoods step for the customer experience.

        • @DarKBlooD I expect from the point of view of Comixology, "Why should I have to take a 30% hit on sales through iTunes and Google Play, when I can sell direct and keep all the money?"

Yes you're right in that it cuts down the options for the customer (which I'm disappointed about) but I can see it from their end. 30% is a pretty big cut to just give away to Apple/Google. Comixology obviously think their ecosystem is now strong enough not to have to rely on the big guys.

Can only hope that if enough big-traffic apps pull this kind of move, Apple and Google might consider cutting them better percentages to return to in-app purchases.

        • @Supermatty, the way Comixology worked was the people taking the hit was the creators. One indie publisher mentioned on the Bleeding Cool forums that he received 4 times more books bought through the website then he did through the app.

        • @SirFlibbled ah ok I didn't realise that. Either way, I can see why they changed the situation. Hoping that the big app stores will consider lowering their percentages for selected apps, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

    • Me too, but at least i can read cbz on my Windows Phone :P

      • me also on my android :)

        • I use PV (Perfect Viewer) for Android. Best CBZ/CBR reader out there.
