VPN Access for $35 Per Year from Ghost Path

10

$35 for a year of VPN access. Regular price is $10/month. I've been using them for several months and really like the service. Good client software too.

$3/month is pretty good value. How are the speeds? Do you use yours for Hulu and/or Netflix? No trouble streaming their HD content?

  • Anyone using this with myTV/TVB currently?

    • Bugger it, I've signed up (be careful with the page - if your password is deemed too short and bounced you back, it will reset itself and select the 1 month plan) and tested this on hell$tra 4G tether, no lag even at 720p.

Will see how it fare with TPG and Optus cable…

  • Bit of a VPN noob question, but any issues with a local DHCP WAN? Have got a VPN connection, but it dies when my WAN IP changes. Assume this is a server end setting. You had any issues?
    And do they keep records?

    • If you really like your anonymity, you're better off using TOR.

  • Trying to ping their Hong Kong server hkg2.gpvpn.com = Request time out

    Ping hkg1.gpvpn.com
Pinging gw1.hkg1.vitalng.com [117.18.73.46] with 32 byte of data:
    Reply from 117.18.73.46: bytes=32 time=239ms TTL=48

Speed is OK for the price $3 per month.

oh btw, is that a normal price or some kinds of promotion!?

  • anyone vouch for the speed? and any restrictions with streaming hulu etc?

    • Using the app's built in test, I can max out our ADSL2 connection at 8mbps and 17ms ping on Melbourne server. Haven't tried actually streaming yet.

  • …Ghost Path is a US company

    • …and?

      • Do you trust a VPN or any security service based in the US?

If you read the comments above, people are using it to stream content. so it shouldnt really be a problem. Im not sure what you are up to though.

        • If your streaming content your allowed to view why do you need a VPN? Are you trying to bypass some copyright restrictions?

        • No, geographical restrictions are far from the same thing as copyright restrictions.

        • Yes they are. Content publishers, or the copyright holders licence distributors like Hulu, Netflix etc to distribute their content to a particular geographical region. And guess what…Hulu have started blocking VPN connections from their services….but you knew that right.
