Opus BT-C3100 Li-Ion/NiCd/NiMH LCD Smart Intelligent Battery Charger $41 USD @ GearBest

100
GB17701

If you are looking for a new smart 4-slot charger with an LCD display that can charge your NiMH batteries (e.g. Your huge collection of Eneloops) as well as rechargeable lithium-ion batteries then this may be the charger for you.

The BT-C3100 charger is usually priced around $60 USD in stores that stock this charger, but with the special group buy coupon, it drops the price down to $41 USD with free shipping.

Note that there are only US and EU power adapter versions so you will need to use or acquire an AU plug travel adapter, which you get cheaply from Ebay or from a local dollar shop, or "bend" the US power adapter version.

Links to both adapter versions are below:

your probably better off linking to the us version because many people (like me) like to just bend the pins on the us version to fit the aussie plugs, theres no advantage (that i can see) to linking to the eu version unless your going to be using it there?

this also appears to be the new updated firmware version. good enough reason for me to jump on it.

    • You're right. I've just updated the post with both adapter versions and changed the default link to the US adapter version

note to everyone reading this comment. don't do this unless you want a discount on your life

  • This or the la crosse?

    • -1

do la crosse do do a lipo charger?

    • I have a la crosse and I hate it… It keeps detecting all of my new eneloop and hobby cells as "null" and refuses to charge them unless i put them in another charger for a few minutes. Makes it useless for traveling with just the one unit.

Sticking to my 'dumb' charger for now until I can find a decent one.

have you tried running a refresh cycle on them? can sometimes help.

im not sure of how the la crosse's work but my maha did tht when i first got it because my cheap shitty smart charger couldnt charge single cells and had killed all my batteries.

while i could shove some charge back into them with a crap charger, the cells are damaged and way below there capacity. since getting my maha charger ive replaced all my cells and a few years on they are still "like new"

        • yeah, by now I'm fairly certain that I've refreshed all of them at least once. the standard eneloop unit is faster and the charge lasts longer for some reason. shame really as the la crosse is past warranty :(

        • the standard eneloop unit is faster and the charge lasts longer for some reason

the reason is because its killing your batteries.. maybe think of it like a car…. sure someone could thrash the hell out of it and get you to your destination slightly faster, but its going to cause the car to break down and need fixing (replacing) more often…

a good smart charger is far more gentle and makes them last much longer.

    I love this comment:

"It has a fan, this is necessary to handle all four channels at full power. Even with only one channel in use the fan, it start and stop very often. The fan is not very loud, but due to the starting and stopping it is very annoying."

the fact that it has a fan and the honesty behind it.

    • lol…. Classic.

That comment is not from the seller but from the independent review quoted below.

Full review with measurement. Its conclusions:

The charger has a lot of functionality but not everything is perfect:

    • The user interface is fairly easy to use, but it may take a some time to learn what the different modes does.
    • The high current peak from the power supply is not good for the power supply and makes the charger show wrong readings.
    • The oscillations prevents fully charging some LiIon cells and may lead to over voltage on old cells.
    • Generally the peak charge and discharge current for LiIon are a bit high, especially on the outer slots.
    • The resistance measurement has limited use, mostly due to contact resistance.
    • I would have prefered constant current, instead of the pulsing.
    • I am a bit suspicious about the NiMH termination, in my tests it works perfectly, but will it do that will all types of batteries?

    Can the charger be used?

    • I will definetely say yes, the discharge test works fine and charging LiIon in the center slots does also work fine.
    • NiMH works perfectly in all slots and all modes.
    • Note that this will be the improved version 2.0 of the charger that should address some of the problems from that initial review such as reducing high current peaks and resolving the oscillation issue as mentioned by the chief engineer of the charger in the forum post.

  • this or a nitecore l4 v2 ?? use is for basic durcacell/energizer etc batteries and 18650/500/350 for vaping.

  • La Crosse Technology BC-700 is the same price.

    • if your only charging AA or AAA that might be a better charger, but you wouldnt buy the one in this deal unless your charging lipos (18650's etc) in which case the lacrosse is useless to you.

i already have a maha c9000 which is a better, more expensive charger for AA AAA than the lacrosse but i still bought this one.

      • will be mainly used to charge 18650s 18500s and 18350s - AA and AAA have theyre own separate charger

  • This charger has pretty poor reviews, I don't know how it got 50 people to sign up to the group buy on BLF.

Its fairly new and most retailers on Aliexpress wanted about $70 shipped at first but poorly/cheaply constructed, I'm sure it will be $20 or less by the end of the year.

  • The only way I will buy one is if the firmware update fixes its issues and thus makes it better than the Nitecore I4 v2

  • I think I will get one!

  • For those of you who like the nitecore charger. Nitecore are going to release this year a new all in 1 charger with a screen. Its in this youtube video at around the 10minute 15 second mark. I'm personally waiting for this one to come out.

  • mine arrived today, just threw a couple cheap crappy 18650's on to test.

worth noting mine came with a au power/travel adapter thingo in the box (i bought the us version)

    • Hi nosdan,

What date did you place your order?

      And how is the charger?

      • 28 Apr 2014 20:41:26 AEST

        going by my paypal receipt

no idea how it works yet but the guys at blf are a better source of info im sure

        • I placed my order on May 3, so hopefully it arrives this week.

I had asked for AU plug as I accidentally ordered the UK version, but they changed it to the US version. they said the AU plug wasnt available, so its good news that you received the AU plug now.

        • I placed my order on May 3, so hopefully it arrives this week.

as always with stuff from china, anticipate about a month delivery time from when you order, often stuff arrives sooner but sometimes not and if its slower then your not so disappointed.

they said the AU plug wasnt available, so its good news that you received the AU plug now.

just to be clear, mine came with the US power brick but there was also a "us to au" travel adapter to change it to work with an au socket…. tho i dont really recommend using them if your plugging it into a wall as tehy end up putting a lot of stress on the wall socket. mines plugged into a 4 way power board that sits flat on the floor next to me :)
