Unsure when this started or when it will finish, Olympus webpage doesn't show much… Assuming this is a new deal and information hasn't fully come across yet, hopefully JB and everywhere else will start showing this cash back as well.

Cash back shown as followed:
300 on OM-D E-M1
200 on OM-D E-M5
200 on PEN E-P5
100 on PEN E-PL5, PEN E-PM2 and Selected Lenses (can seem to find out which ones)

DigiDirect seems to be the only site advertising this cash back. Brings OM-D E-M5 to $899 in single lens kit which doesn't come close to the Myer deal but its a decent saving, slightly more expensive than Kogan but its AUS stock

Shipping worked out to be 15.90, unsure if that was flat rate but they have a few stores around Australia

Promo runs from 28 Apr to 30 Jun 2014.

The EPM2 deal for $229 after cashback looks good.

  • The website doesn't even tell you how to get the cashback.
Any direct links to the cashback site?

      • I meant the form you need to fill out for the cashback. lol

        • me too! if anyone could let me know as well :)

        • Olympus website says claim portal will open 7 May.

  • +3

    Time to get an E-M1!

  • Shame the E-P5 is limited with lens bundles. The 17mm is ok to have but why also lump it with the EVF, I don't need it :(

The 14-42mm EZ (Electric Zoom?) lens works with just small twist of the zoom ring isn't it rather than more common method that requires full turning to zoom in/out?

If somebody still wants the E-M5 Dual Lens Kit unused, unopened, I have a spare one which I am willing to let go for $800.
    Comes with the receipt.

    Prefer Melbourne Pickup.

    I only have 1.

    • Why not $650?

      • -3

Because its not the current market price.
I am selling at market price not at acquisition price.

Its like telling a shop, why don't you sell things at cost price?

At $800 it is still a bargain compared to this deal with the single lens kit fetching $899 and you will need to mess around with getting the cashback, as it isn't automatic, you need to locate the website from somewhere and fill in forms.

Note: I didn't get this camera from Ozbargain, I got it 1 week before they even posted it here.

I know people will neg my comment, Maybe we should start negging all the deals here, because shops aren't selling items at cost price.

        • Chill mate. Just asking. :)

    • You bought it from Myer last time about $650? Right?

    • I'll pass but good luck with the sale.

  • Olympus site says promo from 28th April till 30th June. Perhaps some new models coming out in July?

  • +3

    According to digidirect
    $50 back on 17mm 1.8, 17mm 2.8, 45mm 1.8, 25mm 1.8

    $100 back on 12-40Pro, 75mm 1.8, 12mm 2.0, 75-300mm

  • Damn!!! I only purchased the 75mm on Thursday and the 17mm last weekend :-(

    • +1

You can try go back to the store and ask them to reissue the invoice. Depends on where you bought it from, usually they are not too fuss about reissuing invoice if it is within a week or so.

      • Haha, it's worth a try! I've spent over $10K at that store this year so they know me quite well!

        • Cool - they did it on the 75mm I purchased on Thursday. I didn't push my luck by trying the 17mm I bought a week or so back - I was happy with the $100 on the 75mm!

      • thank you for suggesting this!!!! i called up the place i bought it from, at first they said they cant do it…now they said they will do it for me…gonna take it in tomorrow to get a new receipt…i bought it 2 days ago..

        • Where did you buy it?
Does anyone deal this kind of thing with Myer before?
I will try Myer tomorrow ;)

        • Myer will often allow you to return an item then repurchase.

However you will not be able to repurchase it at the same price if the sale has ended, eg your new price will be full price.

I suspect you are trying to claim an extra $200 off the em5 dual lens kit? Sadly the sale has ended and listing price is $1100.

        • Yeah that what I am thinking but worth a try…let you guys know later today

        • Make sure you get them to check the repurchase price. LOL!.

Would be funny if they said yup we can do it. Then when you repurchase they charge you the current price which is $1100.

For those who bought OM5 from Myer recent deal, you may wanna try your luck. I got lucky, just tell salesman to ask manager if it is hard for him…. ;)

        • Grats on getting it done.

I tried to do it, but the guy said "we can only sell it back to you with the price the system tells us to sell it for", which is $1100.

He did agree to do the refund then purchase, but couldn't agree to sell it back to me for $650.

Ah well…. still a good price none the less.

        • That what he did and he also put $450 off to current price to make it to $650. You may wanna try another Myer to see how your luck going :)

        • i just got it done at JB, at first they said they have to do it at the repurchase price (before sale) which works out more expensive(after cashback) then what i purchased for…but then they said they will do it for me..:)

thanks to the person above for suggesting that idea :)

        • Louis Litts - Are you able to post your receipt at all ? I tried 2 Myers in Adelaide with no luck

        • Tried in 2 Myers in Vic, no bite. Both of them say they cannot do the same price but can resell it to me at the higher price. Tried to get them to do the discount manually, they said they cannot.

          Lucky Lucky. sigh.

        • 3rd strike and I am out of patience - but as you say, still a great price @ $650

  • (oops, replied to wrong post)

  • $999 for E-M1 body is pretty tempting…

    • That would be a no brainer over the $899 EM5 single lens kit.

  • Hmm $100 off the PM2 is tempting given the sensor is the same one from its EM big brother.

Any better deals going around on the PM2 than the $329 before cashback?

    • -3

Sensor same doesn't mean anything. I can get a cheap chinese made one for like $200 with the same sensor, but i won't expect to have the same Picture Quality.

You will need to take a look at the Image Processor too, if the image processor + sensor is the same then the PQ will be similar. If the image processor is different then PQ can be alot different.

PM2 is a good camera though, but don't expect it to do anywhere as good as a E-M5 or E-M1.

We are not talking about a some random Chinese cam using the same sensor are we? The PM2 is essentially a rebodied PL5 and has pretty much identical IQ as the OMD. It is missing some things, a viewfinder and the stabilser isnt as good.

PM2 is a good camera though, but don't expect it to do anywhere as good as a E-M5 or E-M1.

Care to back that up with anything other than your opinion?

        http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympus-e-pm2/9
"OM-D image quality in smaller, lighter, cheaper body"
        " Essentially it's a slimmed-down OM-D - a camera we like very much indeed."
"On to image quality, and the E-PM2 borrows the highly capable 16MP sensor and TruePic VI image sensor introduced in the E-M5, and offers image quality that is to all practical extent identical."

    • +2

I have been eyeing the PM2 also, as it has, like you said, the same sensor and therefore practically the same image quality as the EM5. Of course you miss out on a lot of the convenience and adjustment options, and perhaps the biggest thing that can affect the image quality is the inferior image stabilizer system. A week or two ago, before the cash back offer, Digidirect themselves had the PM2 for $299. Haven't seen it cheaper anywhere else.

      • Might have to check in store at DSE and Myer now they have taken it off the web sites. Could be marked down.

  • M.Zuiko 40-150mm lens not included in cash back?

  • Wait, so is this valid for all purchases? Or just purchases at specific stores?

  • Cashback portal is now live. Process is quick and easy - just a couple of minutes per claim.
