USB OTG MicroSD Reader for Android US $15 Shipped Worldwide @ Meenova

41

USB OTG is the standard for attaching accessories to Android devices. This reader will let you plug a MicroSD card up to 128gb into your phone/tablet for storage or apps or for offloading your camera photos to free up space.

It's excellent, that's all I can say. Perfect for phones where the manufacturer actually REDUCED storage in a new model e.g HTC (go figure!)

They said delivery in 2 weeks but I actually got mine in 4 business days (there was a weekend in between)

    $15! no way
can buy $2 OTG with microsd reader from ebay and will do everything for you

    • Ok I know you can buy $5 cheap ones but for this kind of thing I would like a reliable one if my data/pics are important to me

      • not everything is cheap is crappy. I got one from ebay and got this too never had problem with them, not even once

        • +3

product is a reader though..different to what you bought which is the otg cable.

By the way, product is a mini usb micro sd card reader….nothing to do with otg so title is kinda wrong, unless im mistaken.

        • the one in the post is otg+microsd reader. and what I meant you can buy otg cable and microsd reader and use them together and you are not limited to microsd as you can use it for other usbs. or you can buy like what samlot(comment below) bought for cheaper price and has the same function.

Yes you can do all that but the point of this product is to be able to have a microSD card reader attached to your phone to extend your phones storage without having to dangle a USB OTG cable and USB thumb drive from it, especially handy if you have a Nexus 5. The point of this device is convenience of size which is what you're paying for, as it can remain attached to the phone or you can add it to your keys and use it whenever you need it. This item looks a lot more compact than the one's you and Samlor have linked to.

I do agree though that this item is overpriced for what it is which I guess is the main gripe here.

    • Yep, recently bought one like this and I am waiting on delivery.

Sorry guys I thnk you're missing the point. I bought a $4 Usb otg USB STICK too from msy and didn't have to wait

But I was talking about quality MICROSD CARD reader not usb stick or usb otg cable, and one i can use longer than 2-3 months

Plus this is NOT advertising, I have no association with any manufactorer anywhere, and there are plenty of posts here for everyday prices which are not limited specials

MAYBE IT WOULD HELP TO ACTUALLY READ THE POST IN THE FIRST PLACE AND MAKE SURE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME THING —- I COULD SAY I BOUGHT A $100K MERC FOR $60K AND YOU COULD COME BACK AND SAY BUT YOU CAN BUY A TOYOTA FOR $20K… OH PLEASE…

      • +2

So what makes your "merc" different from this?

        inb4 ozbargainers dont buy Mercs

I think its better to change your username, I cant find any smartness in your post!

first of all you dont need to YELL. then if that was the case, it should be the original price for this reader +$30 and has reduced to $15, here is a deal!
also there are differences between merc and Toyota. if I find a toyota that has all the merc features and functions I will buy the toyota. I dont really care about the logo or the brand

I'not changing my username as i know i'm right. if the admin wants to ban me so be it

This product is a good one I agree. The price though is not a bargain, just the everyday price. I'm waiting on a bargain on it as I want one.

        Bold statements…

this is everyday's price. There is no deal, just advertising.

I'm pretty sure the latest HTC has a MicroSD slot, so why do we need this?

    • -2

Yes, but you have to TAKE IT OUT OF THE PHONE to put it in your camera or pc or another device which can be difficult if you have to do it quickly in the field, or you have to TURN OFF some phones to do it

Used to be 12USD towards the start of the year.

  • I funded this on kickstarter a while ago for 8 dollars, it works great, solid construction, pretty good quality

This item has always been this price. No bargain unless it was a discount from the standard price.

  • Ok guys, i see the point. I'm done with this thread. Next time i'll take more care with my wording. I've bought plenty of IT and mobile stuff off ebay for $1 or even cents and know a lot of resources to get cheap stuff, so i know what you mean. But sometumes i will pay that bit extra for a specific item. Thanks for the constructive comments.

  • I'm sure there's a market for this device but being a cheapskate instead of spending $15 + cost of SD card I'd probably connect my smartphone to my computer through OTG and backup that way. Or use a file transfer program if I'm not in a hurry. Having the files on my computer means it's covered by the scheduled backup. (Home computer, not a work computer, so no danger of boss getting my files.)

  • Ok … it's not really a deal (as a discounted price on the item). On the other side when you are thinking about buying an Android phone this could be a solution to save on a smaller GB version which makes it a clever saving option. This makes it a deal for me …

The 1$-2$ cables and cheap readers given as alternatives are really not comparing to this. (… and even not driving a Mercedes, Audi or BMW … Design and built quality count to me … unfortunately these things are not comparable and there will be always a market for quality products).

    • Good point about saving on the device cost in the first place… Didn't think of that

Why dont we jump up and down how manufacturers can charge $100 to increase memory from 16gb to 32gb, this is a way to tell them F.U. (to borrow from ABC's Checkout program which is excellent by the way).

I already have a drawer full of otg cables and readers, but thus one i can leave in the phone for gps maps when i use the phone as gps navigator, and have my 20gb of music on hand without hogging my phone memory

A cable and usb stick hanging from my phone on the windscreen looks pretty silly…

  • has anyone found a case (eg Nexus7) that has the connector and card reader built into the case so that the card is always connected? Not sure how charging would work though.

    • now a case with wireless charging and card reader would be the go… If you could buy it for a dollar on ebay (hang on guys I'm joking ;-))

Regardless of how good this "USB OTG Micro SD Reader" is, its price is as ridiculous as that of "branded" accessories such as Apple's or Samsung's.

I have been using $1 OTG adapter(s) and $1 Micro SD card reader(s) for several years now. Very few of them have gone dead over the months, and altogether, I don't think that I have spent anywhere near $15 for them.

I have one of these that i bought from kickstarter. It's ok, works well, but a couple of things worth knowing.
Your phone needs to be rooted to use stickmount to mount it.
I would not attach it to the phone for long periods - it just feels like a knock or drop would break the usb plug, or worse, the usb socket on the phone.
It has the same problem as almost every usb device - the cap is loose and will fall off. I've already lost mine.
The cap actually has a small hole to loop some thread through, but then it won't fit back on the reader.
It's not bad, but i was a little disappointed with mine. YMMV.

    • I got mine 2 months ago and it's been perfect. I agree with your point about the flimsy usb connector, but that has more to do with the phone side as my htc m7 connector is plastic, i meant more keep it connected while in windscreen mount or fixed in caddy rather than in your pocket
