SYD -> LON one way cheapest possible ticket

Hello all,

Wanting to buy a one way ticket to London any time after July this year.

Anyone able to help me out?

Around the same time last year I posted $330 deals from Asia somewhere to LHR/Paris/Frankfurt etc which you could add a scoot ticket to and get there for around $500.

Would love a similar deal / price so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great :D

Also any tips in general to get to London for as cheap as possible would be great!

Maybe be a little more specific with your dates or indicate how flexible you are.

July School hols in Australia means flights out of Oz until around mid Jul are going to be expensive, if you can wait until the hols are over then your Aust - Asia leg will be cheaper

    • Yeah any time after 1st of July is fine by me haha. Just looking for the cheapest possible flights :)

Thanks for the advice. I had to fly around July in 2012 to go study in the UK when the Olympics were on… Far out it cost me an arm and a leg!

Then you can qualify for the Paralympics… LOL

Cheapest I could find is Air Asia on the 23rd/24th of July from SYD to KUL for $209 then KUL > LHR with Vietnam Airways on the 25th for $381 (only 5 seats left!)

Going via singapore with scoot then Jet Airways to LHR is slightly more expensive but not by much.

Theres a few other dates available as well!

      Thanks mate!

I think I might actually book this! :0

      • Thats alright!

If you didn't happen to get it let me know and ill find the next cheapest for you :)

Scoot is having a sale tomorrow starting at 7am so that could potentially reduce costs just incase you haven't bought that leg of the trip yet. Im pretty sure the vietnam airways flights are all gone so I'm hoping you got one!

  • Also think the ~$200 one way flights to SIN / KUL will come down over the next few months? Sale fairs etc?

  • Also looking at this! Only slight difference for me is then on to Ireland (either Dublin or Cork airport - Cork so far appears cheaper) Looking to leave Melbourne in mid-late july.

    • After looking at it for a couple of seconds you could get $209 MEL > KUL with AirAsia on any day before the 18th of July then $471 with Kuwait Airways on the 18th of July from KUL > LHR via KWI THEN get some budget airline flight from london to ireland which should cost about $110 with Aer Lingus.

Bringing the total cost to $790. You could cut more and more costs by seeing if you could go via a city in europe that you can fly Ryannair or something from to get to Dublin.

  • So.. Melbourne to KL for $209 on July 22nd get to KL at 7am or 4pm.. then theres a $382 malaysian airlines flight to London Gatwick leaving KL at 8pm .. Would the 4pm into KL be pushing it? I don't want to rush, but then again, don't want to spend over 12 hours at KL airport :|

Then from Gatwick arrival 7am, theres a ryanair flight at 12:50 to cork for $68! Again, is this timeframe pushing it?

Total min: $659 + ryanair baggage i'd assume.. Hope this helps someone else too

    • Yeah seriously its worth staying a day in KL to get your next flight… Totally didn't realise you could fly into gatwick! this changes EVERYTHING!

      • ALSO, you could fly on the 22nd with Vietnam Airways for about $395 to gatwick airport via Ho Chi Minh city and attempt the optiontown upgrade, getting you to london in business for about $850!

        • Scratch that, maybe $900 but still..

You are dealing with low cost carriers here. 3 hours would normally be ok IF you were with the same carrier. But if Air Asia is delayed, then 12 hours will be like 5 minutes compared to the grief you will have if you miss the connecting flight.

I personally suggest you leave a day earlier, spend a night in KL, it will give you a rest period for a long trip anyway, and if the AK (Air Asia) flight gets delayed, even cancelled, you can get the next flight if it's the latter and still make it.

But it depends how much risk you are willing to take and your past flying experiences. Having been stranded before and paying up more than double to fix the issue plus overnight accommodation costs, I personally wouldnt be taking the risk.
