What do Australian's consider to be a bargain? What brands do you want and at what prices?

Hey Ozbargainers,

Again, thank you for your support last week as we launched our online store! Many of our sales were from Australia and specifically Ozbargain.
We want to ask, in all honesty, what do you consider to be a bargain for a genuine watch? At what price would you be like "Holy smokes, Barbra where's my credit card?". We strongly believe that for every item that we list on Timeparadise's website we are the CHEAPEST in the world! But is that enough?
Also, what do Australian's love. When we ran a quick poll on Facebook with Australian's a couple of weeks ago, they said Michael Kors. We have taken that onboard and in the next couple of months we will be listing them on the website. But what brands do you like?

Truly, thank you for your support! Any questions or comments, please email us at [email protected]
or fill out the contact form on www.time-paradise.com

If you take pricing advise from OzB prepare to go bankrupt. But in all seriousness it depends on the product, if you really are the cheapest in the world even 10% on top of that will be a bargain for some provided it doesn't go on sale often from your competitors e.g. for Apple products on here 10% off is a bargain.

But if you really want to win the hearts of OzBers you need to do the following (after providing a good price of course):
    -Have stock
    -Don't let your site crash
    -Have good support
    -Have stock
    -Get orders delivered on time
    -Have stock.

    • Hi Beepec,

Thanks for your honest input. We have noticed that some Oz bargainers were not impressed with how we replied to some hurtful and unjust comments (to us) on eBay. We have made the vow to not reply like that in the future (last occurrence was in Feb 2014). Our support has always been 6 days a week, on the phone, email and also "100% authentic or 100% money back". As for stock and technology - we believe we are covered!

      Thanks Beepec.

I need STORM watch for my hubbys b'day, at least 20-30% off RRP to me is a bargain depending on brand got a Dyson with 30% off rrp just yesterday so I literally ran to the shops. After sales support, warranty repairs, customer service, loyalty deals or discounts. That would keep me coming back and stock.

    • Hi itajac,

Thanks for your reply and honest comments. We will definitely endeavour to please customers with your mentality in the near future.

      Thanks

    • Do you mind telling me where did you get 30% off Dyson yesterday?
      I am after a Dyson 59 for Mother's day
      Thanks a lot!

      • Sorry it was more like 25% off but it could have been 30%,if I had bought it on wed of last week when Myer had the DC59A for $519 (20%off) then get price beat from Masters for a further 10% ,but I missed it then Myer had the Dyson till sunday 27/04 with a 15% off so $551.65 went to Masters didn't tell them about their own online price which matched Myers at that time ,so they had to match Myers online plus beat it by 10%, in the end it went from $588 Masters price( not rrp)to $496 with all discounts. Plus claimed bonus tool kit worth $99rrp from dyson. The vac is awesome, expensive but so… worth it. Have a look st Myer Dyson post.

        • thanks!

I am a bit of a watch-a-holic. I only buy Automatics and I tend to flip them around a bit as well (sell them and use the $$ to buy other ones). An impulse buy for me is possibly around the $200 ish mark, there aren't many autos down there. I would have to really like something to spend $600 - $1K and I would have to sell one of my current watches to raise the $$ to go any higher.

In terms of watches the things I would look for:

    • Watch Movements Seiko, Citizen and Swiss movements all OK but I personally am not interested in Chinese movements

    • No interest in 'fashion' Quartz watches. Watches that are all pretty much the same except they stamp the name of some designer on them on the way out of the factory.

    • I would compare your watches against prices from sites like:

    • creationwatches
    • skywatches
    • gnommonwatches
    • Rakuten
    • authenticwatches
    • Ashford

I know you sell only authorised dealer watches with warranty so the comparison to grey market dealers like Ashford and authentic (and 100s of others) might not be fair.

Brands I would look at online:

I have a Seiko Orange Monster and I would look at Sumo and any of the SARB/Propex line of watches. Would love a spring drive but as said above would have to sell an Omega or something to raise the cash. In terms of the mass market ozbargain community I reckon great deals on Seiko Monster, Orient Mako, Maybe a Mido or an Automatic Tissot might be interesting.

Hamilton/Mido. I have had a Hamilton before and loved it. Wouldn't look at Longines, have had one of those and took it back, rattled and squeaked, liked the look, hated the experience. Similarly I have seen some great looking Mido's. Swatch group watches with good reputations but not known by most people.

I personally like some of the more affordable less known Swiss and German brands like Mido, Damasko, Glycine, Dievas, even Sinn or Meistersinger. Most of the German watches sold in Oz seem to have a single distributor and we are blocked from buying online to get better prices.

I have seen pictures of Titoni watches online, genuine swiss watches with a genuine history that look a lot like Rolex but have been concentrating on the Asian market for a long time and as a result arent as well known arounds the world. These look like they are a much cheaper alternative to a Rolex for a genuine product if you like that kind of style. If you had good deals on these I would definitely take a look.

Presumably you are looking to make big profits ASAP. I reckon your best bet to achieve this would possibly be to offer great deals on Pebble/iwatch type devices. Personally I would love a ventura automatic/digital but most people will prefer a smartwatch.

Finally, if you can sell me a new Omega Planet Ocean, a Blancapain 50 Fathoms or a Rolex GMT Master for sub $3K I will become you new best friend for life!!!

    • I 2nd a lot of this, especially the brands with locked local distributers.
I also agree the low $100-$200s is a possible impulse purchase, but higher needs consideration.
An unusual auto with a bit of a story would probably fit the bill.

    • 2ndeffort,

Wow, what a reply! Thank you for taking the time to reply with great detail. Your comment on automatic watches have definitely been taken onboard. We will definitely see what we can do. As for your ask for a Rolex or an Omega, if any specials come in soon, we will definitely get in contact.

      Thanks Mate

    • Hey, I'm kinda like you as well, except I don't flip mine I keep em and also I keep to a lower end budget, no more than $400 for a watch.

My favorite brand is Orient automatics, best value for money. Needless to say I have quite a few of em.

Discountwatchstore is another one I shop from apart from the ones you've listed.

Timeparadise rep, I'm really surprised you guys don't stock Orient watches. Seagulls are also good value for money, though there's a lot of stigma about Chinese watches.

The other thing you might want to consider are straps. I import most of mine. Nato/zulu straps and Hirsch strap lines would be good.

      • Hi arislan!

Thanks for your input. It's definitely appreciated. Yeah, sorry, we don't stick orient. Straps…maybe in the future.

        Best regards.
