Wow your ignorant, Voda does not suck so didn't think your comment is good

What a flog, if you don't like it….ignore it

what use is a 4g network when you can never get any reception?
        Telstra FTW!!!

        • -1

          And Telstra doesn't have 4G?

        • 200 KMS as the crow flys out of Adelaide, perfect reception on the side of the river. Full bars 3G. Roamed onto Optus (free) in the travels, but only lost coverage for about 10Kms all together

        • I am here in wentworthville down the road literally from parramatta.
voda aswell as optus ill be lucky to get 1 bar.
my mate who is about 10 km away is voda his calls cuts out continually.
not my mobile either ive tried with multiple phones.

      • That difference is contracting to about 2%, versus the difference for data 100% at least last i checked (pre April '14 plans). Also a long life simplicity user, regardless.

        • Was a Vodafone user for 10 years, now Telstra "iPad" data & long life simplicity phone user - using $10 starter packs when on sale.

          Glad I left Vodafone.

Black spots are a real problem with Vodafone, especially with data - almost useless in suburban Brisbane area where I live.

Forget about basic phone cover in Tassie beyond the big cities, & you have to go many km to get reception at some smaller tourists spots in North QLD. Bushwalking in Tassie, I found reception from a solar powered Telstra transmitter which meant data at my fairly remote tent, a long way from the nearest house or road.

While Vodafone may cover most areas people live, it may not be useful where you are - even in the suburbs :-(

        • As you said, if you're going in the centre of Australia Telstra is the easy to go, but if you're only around town/fairly populated regional areas Voda should be good. I have both Telstra and Voda, and do notice the difference

        • I don't diminish the experience, that only a highly capitalised Telstra can hold 2x the landmass coverage versus a competitive coalition of telco's.

Likely I would be supporting $3 data today (potentially 4g antennae even) had not Vodafone captured me on $1.80 (or thereabouts ratios), earlier. Still I realise, I am w/ an esoteric pocket of users, and meanwhile the $10-Telstra keeps keeping much honest..+very impressively whilst perversely.

Always good when holden93 posts comments. It validates my stereotypes of Holden drivers.

  • Pretty sure even though it's just now listed in the catalog they've been this price at mine for a long time. Could be a different model but was vodaphone though.

  • I would love to stock up on Wifi Modems…? :S

  • CLEARANCE! So very limited if any stock.

Tried my local Aust Post when the catalog arrived nearly a week back - had a few old USB modems, but no Pocket WiFi. None were on display - I had to ask them to look out the back!
Considering that PO usually has stock when others have none (e.g. $70 3GB HDD deal ages ago), didn't bother posting this.

Give Aust Post a call or try online stock levels.

My local Woolies has what looks like the same USB modem cheaper. So no great deal.

  • Can i use this overseas?

    • +1

Try unlocking free online at Vodafone. Worked with 2 out of 2 Pocket WiFi modems. Used overseas.
      .

      • I bought vodafone pocket wifi ages ago. Unlocked for free at voda website.

  • Any included data?

    • Should be. But no details as depends what stock if any is left on clearance. Often 3GB - in the Pocket WiFi.

      • By memory (and this) it is 3GB for 30 days)

        • +1

          See box for details.
Depends on device & deal. CLEARANCE is on a range of old devices. Some devices came with different allowances at different times, so could vary from box to box. Vodafone Pocket WiFi2 was sold with 6GB at one time.

Note: Pocket WiFi Pro is a faster model.

I've still got a 30day 3GB data SIM from a $15 Pocket WiFi 2 deal 16 months ago. No expiry date. But poor reception in my area.

Brisbane GPO has at least 2 Pocket WiFi 2. Marked $59 but scans $19. Included 30 day data SIM but does not state GB, but expect 3GB.

  • Pocket WiFi2 is older slower model Huawei E585 modem. Bought same Vodafone deal for $15.80 from BigW 16 months ago! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89216

  • …To ponder how a 7.2Mbps modem could deplete an allowance [$50=elsewhere] in a little under 2 hours :).

  • +1

I got a Pocket Wifi 2 Data Plus pack for $19 at my local post office. It includes 6GB of data which can be used over 94 days. Not as fast as my Telstra connection but will do while I wait for Telstra SIMs to come on special again

    • +1

Great value even for the included data!

      • Yeah, grabbed another one today for when my current data runs out.

    • Which Post Office was this at?
      Its a great price.

  • Posted on this deal a couple of days ago… but my comment seems to have disappeared.
Any way, thanks theearth. Picked the last one from Hurstville(Syd) PO on Monday morning. Also checked the Voda site and received free unlock code.

    • Thanks. Which device & how much data?

  • Checked Pocket WiFi2 Starter Pack at GPO Brisbane - box says credit lasts 30 days, so that means it only comes with 3GB not 6, same deal as I bought for less 16 month ago. Deals may differ.

  • Still good value I say for modem and 3GB over 30 days for $19. All P/O out of stock in my area, Tweed Heads and surrounds.
