Stumbled across this after looking at earlier Logitech deal. The Good Guys Online have the US Boom in White Only for $124. Pickup not available for me in NSW, seems to be online order only. My email confirmation says mine is being shipped from Mt Gravatt.
Wish I didn't find this actually as I don't need one, just wanted to try one out for next holiday (which I can't afford thanks to OB :( )

My friend bought Bose sound link III, 10% off David Jones… Price matched in JB-$20 (Westfield Gift Card)=$340
Bluetooth range in case of UE boom is better than Bose SL3. Bose sound dock 2 Louder than sound dock 3,SL3,Sl Mini but unfortunately not portable.

Had my heart set on the Bose SoundLink Mini too after hearing my bro's.
Cheapest Bose I could find was ~$213 (after 10% off dock sale combined with 5% off gift cards). Read heaps of reviews that pitted the Boom directly against the Bose, with a fairly even split of fans on each side. What swung me to the Boom in the end was: 1. with the deal I got (posted above) I got 2 Booms for less than the price of one Bose; and 2. I prefer the micro USB charger on the Boom than the custom dock charger of the Bose.
In an obviously unfair comparison, the 2 Booms in unison smash the single Bose (and any other portable bluetooth unit I have heard) out of the water. In the fairer test of one unit against the other, truth be told I was equally impressed with both. The Boom sounded more dynamic in its range but the Bose had a warmer signature with marginally better bass.
After all is said and done, both are excellent units and it will boil down to personal prefs. However I must say for the price, it's amazing what the Boom can do.
Boom is also water resistant :)

Demo version in JB was super dirty, although it was red & white.Just imagine how it would be if it is complete white. By the way check apple store (Red-Black) and Dick smith (Green-blue, Pink-Red) … 3 amazing different color models
That would be right. Only ordered it the other night from logitech shop for $155, and it's on it's way already. I ordered Red and as much as I wanted to avoid White as the grills would become filthy in no time, I still would have snapped this up.

Be aware the Stereo mode for double up only works with android and iOS. And must use Bluetooth to enable.
Stereo mode requires the app so it does not work on windows or via the aux cable. Unless others can confirm otherwise?
I just bought 2 of these for my laptop thinking it would be a better deal than the bose soundlink mini. Unfortunately I can't use them in stereo.
That's true, while the mirror mode of the double up feature can be set up on 2 speakers without the app, the stereo mode of the double up feature can only be set with the app(s).
Hmm, that got me thinking. Do you have an IOS or Android phone (and a laptop with bluetooth)? If so, download the app on that, set the booms up in stereo, then pair with the laptop (the 'master' boom can pair with unto 2 devices at the same time. Then play the audio off your laptop. I'm thinking the settings would hold and you would be able to hear stereo from your laptop. Can you try and post back?

Well happy to report that this does work. Set to stereo mode in the app from iphone app, connect to speakers via bluetooth on laptop. Tested on Windows sound properties i could hear left and right channel. It actually shows as "UE boom Stereo" in windows sound devices.
This is nice and begs the question why logitech wont release a WIndows RT app or something.
Realized that this setup is far from a suitable laptop speaker replacement. 2 speakers means you'll need to keep both connected to power semi permanently. Charge plug is in an awkward position and just having to connect to bluetooth each time sucks.
i've heard this. whilst it is impressive for its size, the sound quality is still so shit, worse than $30 logitech pc speakers!
why not just get headphones?
This is just another toy for different purposes,
some like it for its portability and you can share with others..such as at a BBQ, on the beach, anywhere in the house…(personally I can not stand wearing headphones, but that's me only)
If you're asking "why not just get headphones", you're missing the purpose of this device and others like it.
This device at best is a fancy plastic paperweight. Too bad it's $129 dollars for a small minimalistic sculpture.

I'm thinking of getting the UE, not too sure on the 'sale price' of it though (ie. some items the rrp is $100 but it goes on sale for 20% off regularly so you're pretty much looking at $80 instead of 100)
Any tips? Also, someone mentioned pricematch at JB? Are they usually pretty happy to match?
edit: is there a big difference between the boom and the boombox? (is it worth the extra $?)

For those who missed out. You might be able to get one on back order. Just requested one at my local TGG say it'll take about a week.
Bought 2 of these in black during the 30% off GG deal. I got GST back too, which brought them down to ~$97 each. Use them in stereo and sometimes in different rooms spread around the house - simply amazing for price and size :)
