Just got home, after collecting four cartons of Becks beer https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/141728.
What I secured on the Dans site was the imported stuff, but when it came to collecting it, they could only give me the locally brewed version.
I was lucky however, to find a single bottle of the imported stuff, which I purchased.
Once home, I chilled both versions, cracked each open and gave each a taste to compare.
Before tasting however, both were smelt, and straight away, the aroma of the two was totally different.
The imported, had a distinct hop smell. The Australian, not much smell at all.
On tasting, again, different, with the imported sooooo much better.
How can this be so,,,
I mean, if a company will allow its product to be brewed in a different country, I am thinking that they have an obligation to ensure both will be the same, or near enough,,,, not totally different.
Am I missing something here???
BTW, Murphies will be hearing from me in regards to receiving a product different to what was paid for on their site…
You could certainly demand the version that you ordered but taste is such a subjective thing that no company will guarantee you uniformity of taste, even between batches.
