This is probably the cheapest carpet cleaner in the market, if you want a light weight powerbrush shampoorer that has good reviews.

At the end of the day, there are not many options of carpet shampoorer in the land down under. I was considering Bissell ReadyClean (20W7F, sold at $279 at major stores or $239 at David Jones), until I found this one in Bing Lee.

This model appears to be the previous generation of Bissell ReadyClean Powerbrush. The only difference is probably the handle: the ReadyClean handle can be retracted. Other than this, almost the same configuration. The same model (Bissell 2080) was sold at ~US $100 from Amazon a while ago, and reviews are also very positive

With over $100 difference, it is a no brainer for me. After using it for two or three times, I am very satisfied with the performance. The only drawbacks are the small tanks and no upholstery hose. But I can live with that.

Whats the performance like compared to the machines hired at woolies etc.

    • I would go with the big proper machine. These machine don't suck well.

    • They do the job fine but you have to spend more passes on the carpet. Then again, you don't have to allocate a day, clear the whole room, transport the machine back and forth, etc.

And you just need to go slow … They are not as powerful as commercial products, but do a good job if they are used properly.

    • This is suppose to be the best domestic machine you can rent, other wise its over $1000 to buy.

i bought one too.. used it the other week and the results are pretty good. there are cheaper ones e.g godfrey sells one from VAC for $99, but they dont have the power brush / rotoary brush which i was told is essential for picking up hair.

  • The rug doctor / britex in woolies / bunnings are more powerful, longer brush, twice heavier, and their tanks are maybe a couple of times larger.

My problem of these commercial hiring is that I cannot empty my rooms all in one time, so I prefer a smaller machine at home and I can shampoor my place slowly (1-2 rooms per week).

  • I bought the bissell lift off, its junk. this one is a lower model. prob also junk. They're ok got spot cleaning but not the whole room. Even the rug doctor is junk worse! don't hire that machine. just hire a company with a truck mounted machine to clean your room.

you really need a vacuum cleaning with POWER head first to clean your carpet and pick up all the crap before you use these carpet shampooers otherwise all the crap will get stuck in the machine and you'll be leaving traces of it everywhere you go!

  • I bought one last year (also from binglee) and really liked it, though it can be a pain to clean out all the pet fur, even when you pre-vacuum! They do remove a lot of dirt, but it you have a fair amount of carpet to clean, buy the bigger one (Bissell Lift Off Deep Cleaner 10N4F) as it has a larger capacity tank and heats the water as well. I upgraded to the 10N4F a couple of months ago (with Masters beating the price of the closest competitor by 10%) and couldn't be happier! Yes, it cost a lot more than the 2080F, but I don't have to empty and refill it half as much.

  • Does it need a special carpet shampoo?

    (If yes, from where?)

  • I've got one - they are great for the price. I've got little kids and it's picked up a heap of stains and saved me having to get a pro out…. you'll be surprised at how much dirt this picks up! The water in the first few goes will be FILTHY!!!!
