Upgrading to Windows Phone 8.1

  Initially, Cortana will only be available as a beta in the US. It will subsequently expand to other countries. Corporate vice president Joe Belfiore singled out the UK and China as future destinations, but didn’t mention Australia. We’re not going to see it before 2015 at the earliest.

  Australia always gets the short end of the stick when it comes to cool tech stuff. Going to have to wait a while.

  You can change all the locale options to United States and get Cortana but its really not worth it. Overall its a very nice upgrade, lots of hidden gems (like you can now swipe down in multitasking to close apps). The notification centre is a good perk too.

  Overall I would probably keep the 8X over the Moto G, better camera and all that.

    I've done what you've listed but apparently the non-U.S 8x's do not support Cortana.

    Not too fussed, still a great update. Especially loving the addition of swipe to text.

    Guessing you don't have a HTC (i.e Nokia)..? Is Cortana actually useful?

      Nokia Lumia 820 (but the preview works on all windows phone). She is useful, and fun!
