Decent portable flood light

I've noticed in a few of the flash light threads there are some keen collectors and a decent amount of knowledge about what lights are good. I'm after a light for outdoor use to light up an area as opposed to throwing a beam a long distance. Similar to what you would find on a work site, but dosnt need to be super powerful just for recreational use.

Was considering just ordering this as it "looks" like it would do the job. But after reading up bits and pieces on candlepower forums, there are other options such as getting a decent flash light and adding a diffuser.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd like to hear them.

  • How much light do you want it to throw out?

    Battery or Electicity?

    I use one of these:

Its not bad for illuminating a small work area.
Off the top of my head battery lasts 2 hours (but it comes with 2) and takes 1 hour to charge.
    Cost is around $350

Philips make a new LED electric sensor light which is also excellent.
I have used them before for permanent external task lighting.
    Twin LED Motion Sensor Luminaire.
Not sure of the cost, but it would be over $100, but they are good.
