  • Damn! I bought a set of four types from here a few weeks ago and having them fitted this Tuesday!

I missed out on the 10% grrr

i think every other deal they posted you could find the same tyres for cheaper elsewhere anyway, so even at 10% off there price its probably still more expensive than elsewhere

      • +1

Perhaps, but maybe on more common tyres.

I did so some shopping around and they were $100-200 cheaper for a set of staggered 18" Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

Some people say even Costco are cheap, but Costco quoted $200 more per tyre than tyresales.

        • Isn't it cheaper to order from Tirerack on the PSS?

        • PSS?

        • +1

Perhaps, but maybe on more common tyres.

nope, i think it was mostly 17 and 18 "rare" sizes they posted previously and every one i or someone else found them cheaper elsewhere.

if you take some time to understand carsales business model you will understand why you will usually always find them cheaper elsewhere (which is part of the reason why i worked on getting them banned from OzB originally)

        • Yes it is cheaper at tirerack, but with shipping and having to pay for fitting and alignment and taking the tyres to the fitters myself.. Also having to wait a few weeks.. It wasn't worth the hassle for me personally. I was happy to pay a little extra. Also, knowing that tyresales can have my tyres fitted at premium car dealer, I didn't mind paying a little extra. I would've had to pay $60/tyre if I took them there myself anyway.

        • @m0tyrider PSS = Pilot super sport

        • +1

I'd be surprised if you couldn't get them a fair bit cheaper from one of the bigger Michelin dealers like: Akling (Sth Melb), Swan St (Richmond), Eastland (Ringwood), Junction (Mentone).

Edit: Spot on nosdan! A guy I know was part of the set up of the concept/site. When asked for my advice, I was pretty quick to let him know my thoughts!!!

Oh, and most staggered 18s aren't that rare anymore, every other BMW or Merc runs them!

Just looked up Kumho Solus KH17 in 175/70R13 and they are $105

Tyrepower price is $95 fitted and balanced

Bob Jane and K-mart Tyre & Auto are both $79 fitted.

tyretrader.com.au have them for $53 each (excluding fitting), delivery for a pair was $17 a pair to a tyre fitter or the most expensive was $35 for 4 delivered to my door.

There is a place near here that fits and balances tyres for $12.50 each and don't charge for tyre disposal.

    4 from tyresales fitted $420
    4 from Bon Jane / K-mart fitted $316
4 from tyretrader + freight and fitting $297

From tyretrader thats delivered to your door, its cheaper if its delivered to a tyre fitter near you if they are on the list.

Only used this tyre as a example as I recently bought 2.

    • Which place fits and balances for $12.50 a quarter??

      • +2

10 years ago everyone fitted and balanced for that sort of price. Nowadays the bread and butter shop front tyre stores are getting pissed off with people buying over the net to save a couple of dollars and expecting them to take liability of fitting them! Especially on the cheap parallel imported tyres that don't come factory guaranteed, have no liability insurance backing them, and are not manufactured for Australian road conditions!
My old shop charges $30 or more minimum!

Just be careful I tried to buy tyres from these guys but the retailer had no clue they were even listed with them. Happened with 2 different retailers and both didn't honor the price.

  • Purchased a full set of Pirelli Scorpion STR 245/50/R20 for $964.80 (fitted). I looked for this tyre size at many places (for Dunlop and Pirelli) and this is the cheapest one. Thanks OP

    • LoL. That's not a bad deal, but… So you know, they are parallel imports. That's why you got them so cheap! Average 'wholesale' price is normally over $300!
And before you reply, I know this because I'm considering getting rid of the 19s on the Mrs new car and putting some on too! It goes against some ethics… But they're bloody cheap!

  • Just got 4 DUNLOP SP SPORT MAXX 245/40R18 for $980 fitted
    lets hope deal works good
    XR6Turbo loves em
