Please note that PG512 and CL513 are the high capacity versions of these. PG510 and CL511 have around half the ink capacity. And are normally found in new printers.

640&641 is cheap as well, $28 for combo, cheapest in ebay is $40+

  • Wth does it mean when the discount is online only but there's no way to add it to a cart (Canon CLI-526 Multi Pack)? Stock is available in store but they're offering discounts only on non-existent online stock? Other items not on sale are available. Shonky.

  • Ordered, 'Delivery 1: Estimated delivery date 30/04/2014 to 02/05/2014 '

They sold out of whatever very limited stock they had of the items I was interested in shortly after the sale commenced apparently so I reminded them of the ACCC's requirements regarding "reasonable stock levels" and asked why they're still advertising products on sale that they don't have (just to make a point). They have store stock at their standard over-priced retail price. Lol. Won't ever bother with this mob again.

    • Desktop website clearly states that sale relates to store stock (see upper right hand box that gives link to store stock at discount price). However, store will not sell at this price. I tried and store manager agrees with me. Rang online dept 1300 number and they also say that website is wrong, and that they reported it last week to their senior management, but nothing has been done. BigW are refusing to remove the offending web pages AND refuse to offer store stock at the discounted price. And, yes they do have stock.

How long can they continue to do this and not be in serious breach of some Australia law? Any advice?

      • They're a disgrace. I'd contact the ACCC about misleading advertising etc but last time I did in regards to another company's deceptive conduct they said (paraphrased) 'we've noted your complaint but we don't deal with such trifles.' Useless as tits on a bull is the ACCC imo.

  • take a screen print as a first port of call.

Store manager has a screen dump. And I have a screen dump.

BigW customer service know the problem and supervisor just not interested. She is one of those call centre types who just want to move onto the next call. Kept her on the line for 40 mins but all she could really say was there is nothing I can do. Well you could get the website changed. Her answer was no I can't. Well who can I report this to if you are not interested? Answer, due to privacy laws I have been told we are not permitted to give you any details of BigW employees or their phone numbers.

I've given up on getting the deal. However, I really think BigW should be forced to take down the incorrect WebPages and not engage in false advertising.

      • I guess this is the vagaries of attaining 'baksheesh' in an indirect market. Often the ability to negotiate depends on the goodwill and confidence of the employee you happen to strike up the right conversation with. I have on occasion been fortunate with showing staff members the online price and convivially discussing the product, that it makes no real difference to not sell the item at the listed online price, when any 'in store' option appears available, particularly for such a large warehouse company such as Big W, that has no pretensions to be a specialty store.

Frustrating as it seems it is the machine. If I get a chance to have a look locally would you like me to try and buy you some rifter and post them to you? That is if postage is worthwhile.

        • Thanks but I'll try another store tomorrow. I am also very keen to pursue this at a higher level within BigW to find out why their head office Customer Service is so dysfunctional.

  • IF you could ever find an email address of a manager you could send them a rocket regarding misleading advertising and insufficient stock. It's absolute bs to wash their hands of their online store. Does the left hand not know what the right is doing? Rhetorical question, we know the answer. Me, I'll simply ignore their bs and their store in future. Oh, and bag them at every opportunity of course. Might not achieve much but it gives just a little satisfaction. Did I say the ACCC is rubbish earlier? If not I have now and feel a little better for it. They claim to be the "national consumer law champion". What an absolute crock.

    • Have been the ACCC route before. If you push them hard enough they will ring the company and put your request to the company. However, the ACCC make it very clear that will not take legal proceedings against the company for your issue. If the company refuses to play ball, stiff chips (as happened to me last time), you need to take your own legal action. The ACCC will point you in the right(?) direction. That is tell you to first write a letter of demand to the company. That sets the scene for YOU to take legal action. Forget the lawyers, they will bleed you dry. From memory it costs around $45 to start proceedings. Got a Health Care Card you can get it for free. Bottom line, the company I was dealing with waited until 2 days before the court case then settled.

A lot of hassle for me, but more importantly for the company, but in the end satisfaction. Now is it worth my time for this one?

As for the ACCC, they keep a list of all complaints put to them. If one company appears more than X times on that list they will undertake their own investigation for their own reasons, not yours.

      • I'm not interested in legal action, just getting the ACCC to crack down on shonky retail practices. They could easily look at many issues quickly and ask the company for an explanation using a form letter. Take a few hours at most. That's part of their role as "consumer champion". Relying on a black spot approach is not an adequate response imo. Just another pathetic "corporate watchdog".
