No one likes seeing a title's release window delayed, it hurts the game's sales and Nintendo knows this. That's why they have given it such a long release window to begin with. I honestly expected both versions to release mid 2015. It is very likely though that Nintendo will finish the game earlier than that though. There's usually a period of about 2 months prior to release that the game is classified by the OFLC. They don't send in unfinished games to get classified as a game-breaking bug may be introduced that radically alters the design. I imagine the 3DS version of the game is about 98% complete and they are just ironing out bugs. Once that's done they can re-task the developers from the 3DS version to the Wii-U version, effectively halving the development period that the Wii U console had left. I think E3 will be very kind to Smash Bros on both consoles.
The Mario Kart strategy will only work in Australia if they bundle it or reduce the price of the Mario and Luigi bundle (or do all three together) to match the international market. In most other markets the console has already had its price drop so units will be moving faster than they will be here.

I'd just get a skylanders bundle, sell all the SL stuff for ~$60(going price atm), buy MK8 for cheap(bound to be a deal popup on OzB). All up should be around $250 for some MP karting goodness! :D
They should be able to justify the price if they can make the bundle actually special, such as a differently coloured console/gamepad or use the LOZ:WWHD style idea and put a sticker on the gamepad. Or another idea could be a free download token of Super Mario Kart and if they got N64 games on the eshop natively as opposed to through the Wii, Mario Kart 64.

But yeah, 299 for this would be the best price, and these would FLY off shelves.

That's @EB games for that price and we all know they are a rip off! Stores like say big W have the current bundle for $378, I wouldn't be surprised it some retailers do some specials on the bundle, we will just have to wait and see but I would expect target and kmart to do a good price.
That's RRP price though, BigW etc use these as loss leaders so are probably taking very minimal (if any) profit. Nintendo need to drop the RRP (sell it to distributors cheaper!)
Even targets is $399 and I guess if they are selling at a loss they are happy with it or they would revert back to old pricing
If they sell at a loss enough, they will end up making it back in game sales due to increased unit count.

Also the MK8 Rainbow Road looks awesome! (assuming its the space station track shown in the NDirect)
Yes it's coming to Australia. Funnily enough we get choice out of 10 games, the US and Canada only get choice out of 4 games. And it includes the bundle too not just the game if you buy it separately

I agree with Grab that the rainbow lvl looks incredible, actually the whole game does, the colours, the graphics the dam cars in the car lvl look awesome! This is gonna be a whole lot of fun and when I get it I hope you guys will friend me so we can race together :)
I only hope they come out and say "Lol j/ks about the Summer2014 release for Smash Brothers, you can have it in Winter like 3DS!"
I so dearly want Nintendo to move those Wii-U's. But at least Mariokart wil get the ball rolling. Might be enough to restore 3rd party dev faith in Nintendo.
