I have always noticed but never really thought about it until today that there seems to be a limit of comments indented as replies in a thread.
It looks like 4 is the limit and then the replies just stay on the same indentation.
Is there any plans to extend this?
Sometimes in popular threads, it is annoying to see someones reply several comments down the page because all.
Example:
Comment 1
Reply 1
Reply 1.1
Reply 1.1.1
Reply 1.1.1.1 (Stays on same indentation)
Ah fair enough. I can see why too many indentations destroys things and could get out of hand quickly. Sometimes I do direct who I am commenting to, but others I click reply and don't realise I am already on the 4th indentation and get piled at the bottom.
Also, one for the mods: If someone does reply to the 4th indentation comment, I don't think it comes up as a reply in the comments section of the user.
no it appears as a reply to the 3rd indentation, stacked underneath.
Hence why it helps manually typing @mafmouf etc.

Yeah it was changed a few years ago. Basically conversations were getting too long and the indentations were affecting the readability of the site. 4 comments deep was decided.
I did suggest a year ago that pressing reply should put "@<user> above the comment (to the right of the username), so people know which comment it is directed to.
