  • This is awesome! Thanks OP.

  • thx a lot been waiting for something like this.

  • decent games for free imo… assuming they play like the iphone versions.

    • •Asphalt 7: Heat
      •Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles
      •Brain Challenge
      •Earthworm Jim
      •Let’s Golf 2
      •N.O.V.A. 3

These games are working great on 1020. And Modern combat 4 runs good enough but I feel like its bit slow at zooming(looking through the scope of gun). Never played shark dash and order and chaos. But I have downloaded all cuz they are free :D.

  • Thanks OP!

    Nothing available for my 920 or wife's 520 :(

    • -3

They are trying to sell the devices which are not selling well. 520, 525, 920,925 etc are selling pretty well. so nothing for those devices. Sorry.

  • awwwwwwww i got an 820!

  • So happy :D, Finally my 1520 will have some games.

  • No love for my 820. I did update to winphone 8.1 yesterday so happy with that.

    • The update is AWESOME!!! I found increased battery life on my 920 and the Mrs 925

      • I will have to update my wife's 820. Didn't know it was available. Thanks

        • Only through developer channels… There is some fine print regarding this that you should pay heed to.

  • awesome, thanks!

  • Just want an honest opinion on windows phone(currently on Android) , thinking of moving to 1020 or 1520. Any opinion? Is it worth it?

Try it first, go to a shop and play with it, I have a 1520 and couldn't be more happy, hardware is beautiful (screen and camera) battery last forever. The OS is incredible smooth but completely different to iOS or Android. For me it's a good value as you can get it for 500ish, 32 GB on board plus microsd slot.
      Good luck

      • Thanks hlov , I tried in certain shops and was impressed. Reviews say lack of apps is a major issue with windows phone. Thanks for your advice. I am zeroing in on 1520 or 1020.

I got tired of hearing that, so before I bought my 1020, I made a list of apps I frequently use or 'cant live without' on my iphone and then went to the windows store and found those apps or similar ones.

At the end of it there were no apps that I 'could not live without'.

The thing that annoys me about the WP market place is the number of spoof / scam apps… e.g. Say Youtube.. The developers will use the Youtube logos, and represent the app as being official.. But it's not. Once you learn to filter that out, then great.

        • Thanks… Had a look there too

U got 1520 owners thoughts. Now 1020 owners thoughts. I have experienced 625, 820, 920, 1020 and from other Os I had iphone 5s, 4, nexus 7 2013,and galaxy s2. So I know from experience about all OS.

There is lack of apps on windows phone. Many app already on it are not optimized. Apps come late on this OS compared to others. Internet explorer is better than android internet browser but lack of flash player and poor UI makes it not enjoyable. Multitasking is not very good. Maybe I miss something but that's all I can think of for Now.

Still I like Lumia 1020 and am using it over other phone. It's very smooth OS. Live tiles are very interesting and on my opinion better than widgets or icons. Finding and opening apps is easy. Most of the important apps are available and there are alternative apps for everything if no official app is there. Apps rarely crash. One crash on 1020. Here maps, office and most Nokia and ms apps are better than others apps on other OS. Glance screen is awesome. Emails and messages are loveable on Windows phone. I cant explain it. U have to use it to know what I mean. Battery is good but if use camera on 1020, it's not so good. Xbox live integration is awesome but appealing to many. Never need to restart phone cuz of some bug.

And for 1020 CAMERA. That's all I need to say. I may have forgot something. But In summary, I like better battery, smooth UI through most apps, Nokia and ms apps and here maps and glance are the pros u get from WP.

      • Nicely explained. Thanks

It's bloody great. I've come from Android and iOS, and couldn't wait to get off both them.

In the end, and this is something you must understand, but all three leading platforms have their own issues. For me, I loved Android's openness and the freedom it gave to do anything, but that came at a huge price of lag, crashes and just constant reliability issues. iOS is very clean, but- I know this is going to sound silly, but I felt the whole experience was boring as hell. It lacked the soul, and user experience that Windows Phone offers.

There might be an app gap, but the third party developers are a strong force, and they've plugged most of the holes and created far superior alternatives. Youtube? Check out myTube and you'll understand why even the official apps can't even come close. But, this does come at a price too. People like me, you and others who know a bit about what they're doing will find these apps, but people like my mum would download the youtube that first comes up in the search results, which is usually a shit imitation.

      Give it a go.

      • People like me, you and others who know a bit about what they're doing will find these apps,

Is there a list of these free alternatives somewhere? I tried WP and it was terrible because I lost access to so many things I used to take for granted on Android.

      • agreed with above. one other comment i would add in regard to apps, though, is that it DOES become an issue when you need a specific app. for example, i just got given a digital subscription for the entertainment book - ios/android only. or particular games that havent been released on windows phone yet.

developers DO tend to overlook windows phone, and in cases where a substitute can't be used, you're out of luck.

having said that, most things that are really necessary are available…so it's more of an annoyance than anything else.

    • Coming from someone who uses Android and hasn't used Windows Phone other than playing with friends occasionally the apps situation kills it from my perspective.

Although if you can live with that the OS and Nokia hardware is very nice provided you don't want to customize it.

There is also the (non-existant?) piracy situation if that is important to you. Although if the lack of and late apps wasn't a problem it probably isn't important.

    • Also look into making your phone 8.1 if you like running dirty dirty beta software. It's like owning a brand new device (been using WP for awhile).

  • What? No freebies for 920? Outrage! But good to see the Nokias getting some publicity. good phones.

  • Thanks
