I'd suggest looking at other brands.
Polar think they own the market, and this model has very limited features at a not so low price.
And its ugly, which is deliberate.

freddy what would you suggest for around that price range?
i notice on the same site they have the dunlope version for about the same price.

    • Something with an audible alert when you go out of a programmed bpm range is good.
And last I heard Polar had a sealed chest strap, so you can't easily change the battery.
They expect you to buy a new one.

      • Out-of-Zone alarm - audible and visual is stated on Technical features of this product listing!

        • OK, thats good then.
But it still looks like a $2 watch from the dollar shop :-)

          Sigma maybe? PC15 is nice.

          • @freddy: You don't say how much the PC15 by Sigma is or mention the availability in Australia.
Why don't you post where you can get the Sigma PC 15 for $69.95?
I looked at the Sigma PC15 and it looks far too complex as opposed to a product that for me will do the job.
You seems to want to select functions and features over form that the Polar FS1 does not offer. So what if Polar think they own the market, someone has to be a market leader. Putting marketing puff aside, choosing the product that suits you does not mean that people selecting a product other that what you select make a substantially inferior choice.

            • @holdenmg: Holden, I said its good, since it has the zone alarm.
I paid, us$50 for the PC15, but that source has gone.
I was just adding some thoughts. Polar dominate this market, and most of their products are very expensive,
comparing poorly to competitors. But its all about marketing.
Competitive athletes buy them, and they consciously or not want the #1 brand, to associate themselves with a winner.

Polar milk that. They do also sell cheaper models, but deliberately make them look cheap so as not to reduce revenue from their mainstream models. I bought a while back, so can't offer specific examples any better than anyone else with access to google.
              OK, here was a bargain:
              http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/sigma-sport-pc-800-heart-rat…

Sure if you want a cheap HRM right now, or you specifically want a Polar, your deal is great.
