Hey OzBargainers, I was just wondering how everyone gets their Steam Wallet Codes and thought about sharing this method of mine. After EBGames hiked up the price and our currency dipped below the US, I've been finding that it seems fairly difficult to get these Steam Wallet Codes at a good price. I found this method to attain 2 x US$20 Steam wallet codes for the price of AU$35 (or $31 if you have an existing Telstra prepaid mobile), though this is more of a seasonal buy (need to wait for $10 starter kits and for G2A to have stock).
Step 1: Buy 3 x $30 Telstra starter kits for $10 when it is on sale and activate them.
Step 2: Buy 1 $5 recharge (or if you have another Telstra prepaid service transfer about $1 to one of the Telstra sims)
Step 3: Transfer some money around (Me2U) to get $45 on 2 sim cards (note: $10 max/day and $0.25 fee/transfer).
Step 4: Go to this link or search up Steam gift on G2A's website ($20).
Step 5: Buy 2 of these and use pay by phone option which allows you to buy US$20 steam credit for $45 Telstra credit (it may seem expensive but considering these Telstra sim cards were already discounted, it's actually a good buy imo).
Step 6: Accept the payment on your mobile service and there should be 9 messages sent, each deducting $5 from your mobile service.
The code should get sent to your mobile phone. I have actually bought from G2A with my mobile phone before, just not this exact method of transferring credit between accounts as I own a prepaid service while credit built up.
I've actually bought a $20 steam code off them with my phone and an error happened, but was fixed and code sent the next day. Their excuse was that I had purchased it at peak hour and their servers was under a heavy load. I've been meaning to share this idea with others though their site had no stock of the steam wallet codes until I checked now. I don't think this is a bad option for stocking up some credit for the Steam sales.
I have a Telstra Pre-Paid mobile and often buy the cheap starter packs (it's hard to get them for below $12 these days). I might try this when G2A have stock of the $5 gift card. Thanks.
