Do you realise that some of the things you are teaching in your real estate photography are illegal here under the Property, Stock and Business Agents Act 2002….

    • May I ask what is illegal about this?

    • -3

Actually, no. The photograph of the building represents the building and not, in this case, the environs. Were the publisher of said image to claim that there are features of the building that are not present that would be a misrepresentation under the law. In this case the surrounds of the building are not being offered for sale, nor are they under the control of the seller and no offense has occurred.

      • +2

The misrepresentation occurs where the buyer would presume that underground power had been put in, this is an attractive asset to some buyers as after the fact this is a costly exercise (at the new owners expense)

so deleting powerlines in photoshop is illegal?

    • +5

Using the altered photo to sell a house is…

      • looks like I can't even ask a question without neg votes. geez like you guys know everything

    • -2

Personally I'm not keen on when people downvote something because they don't like or approve of it.

Question isn't if you approve, but if this is a bargain. Now I'd say there were quite a few free tutorials out there (eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTPr9-8JbYg ), but there's also quite a few overpriced tutorials. This looks to be of reasonable quality, and a decent price in comparison. So it should be upvoted, not down.

Even if the removal of the powerlines wasn't illegal, it's just deceitful.

  • Should have seen the place I was interested in buying sight unseen a few weeks ago.
REA pictures looked fantastic for the price asked, Real estate porn, but my property manager did an appraisal and reality was that it was a piece of shit with termite activity evident.
It also had piles of junk lying around that were included free of charge in the price as it was a mortgagee in possession sale.
None of this was in the pictures or mentioned in the ad.

  • so this is a course on how to over do HDR photography?

  • +2

Removal of powerlines and poles from the image could be deemed Misleading and Deceptive conduct. Big fines.

    Hello Everybody-

This is my course offered in this deal. The image in question showing the power lines being removed was photographed for the builder who requested the power lines removed. That builder wanted to showcase the buildings they have built as part of their portfolio. It was not photographed for a real estate sale. Most of the course shows similar properties and how they were photographed for architects, hotels, construction companies, and home builders. There is also some sections on shooting for real estate and those cover how to capture dynamic range, blend in better window exposures, light with flash, but nothing on how to mislead a property that is for sale. And NO overdone HDR either. The course teaches technique but how those techniques are applied ethically or not is up to the subscriber.
