So I've finally got some cash, after the bloody deal ended (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/138536)
And I was wondering if anyone can help me find a similar deal? I don't think its likely but I thought I'd give it a go and ask the community.
I just want the Canon 1100D for $300 or maybe Nikon's D3100?
Thanks
Try to look around for promos/deals. This deal on Teds camera for an entry level Canon is quite good:

$300 can be a tough ask for entry level cameras.
Maybe you can try to price match at JB or HN.
Things to take note is that sometimes the deal is "body only". Which means it doesn't include lenses meaning it's pretty much useless. So be aware you'll need lenses. I highly recommend the 18-55mm as a basic starter lens (we call it the kit lens). If you have some extra cash, go for the shake-proof version - Nikon calls theirs "VR" and Canon calls them "IS".
Think of getting a DSLR as 'buying into a system'. It's about choosing a whole brand that you'll use for a long time (unless you get tired of them). The lenses are mostly brand-specific, e.g. Canon cameras use Canon lenses. There are some lenses which aren't brand specific - Tamron, Sigma.
Prepare that it may get pricey from here on. You'll need a bag to house your camera. Potentially a flash unit, tripod and memory card. So there isn't really "cheap" DSLRs.
