Probably not the best for hardcore gamers haha. But it will light up your house at Full HD!
Why no good for hardcore gamers?
5ms
which means nothing for gamers - they care about input lag due to delays introduced by scalers
Because they want higher resolution 2560x1440 and some USB ports from this size of monitors. Viewing angle shouldn't be a problem since it is using PSL panel which is equivalent of LG IPS(a.k.a Retina display)
Response Time is meaningless though.
What about IPS monitors? Are those desirable for fast action gaming?
The whole point of IPS panel is wider viewing angle, not the response time.
No, just colour detail, ips displays have around 5ms so nothing to do with speed.
So yay or nay for casual gaming? And movies etc. Does it have speakers onboard?
Edit: No speakers
I'd buy it if I needed a 27" monitor around this price. I play enough games and not too phased on the monitor. Others do care a lot more though.
I do need a larger monitor, and 27 would be nice. Was thinking of waiting and getting a 16:10 bu no idea why i would want that, just that is seems 'more'.
So couple more votes for yes, and I might be sold on one of these too.
No VESA mount unfortunately ..
good guys ebay (remember the lovely 30% off discount code thats now long gone) had their specific model Samsung LS27C350HS/XY LS27 27" Monitor for around the $300 + $9 shipping mark from memory. Sammy must be trying to offload a few.
Presently $299 + $9 shipping - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-LS27C350HS-XY-LS27-27-Mon…
Might be able to haggle better in a H/N or GG store.

The ebay one you link is Series 3. This one is Series 5. No idea what the difference is, apart from the stand.
This is S27C570H
Those are S27C350HS
No vesa mount is the only reason I'm holding back… I had plans but would be an extra 50 bucks for a monitor with vesa mounts.
I have the Samsung SyncMaster P2770 (27" older model I think) and I love it, great for gaming :p but mine is 2ms / 70000:1
did anyone buy it and is able to comment on it?

this has vesa mount compatability, and 1440 res, $362, so i think im gonna take the plunge for something new since i have had the same 10800 for the 5 years that i have had my LG monitor.
Those are actually refurbished monitors. Basically Dell or Apple orders LCD panels (from Korea) and those that don't meet quality guidelines are returned back to the factory and are re-used by local companies. They design their own stands and sell them cheaply.

There are some known risks with buying these minor brand Korean monitors. But if you have read the description of that monitor, the buyer stipulates that >5 dead pixels is considered a defect and that <5 is not — and that it's considered normal for the panel to show a yellowish tinge.
If you're not OK with this, steer clear from Korean rebadged LCD's.
