    Don't get the solar charger.

    • Was looking to buy a phone solar charger, what is a better option?

      • Is it powerful enough to charge an IPAD?

        • It's barely powerful enough to light up its own charging status LED…

240v charger is a better option.

Just remember the sine wave an el-cheapo generator puts out is not "pure" enough to power sensitive devices like TVs, computers, microwaves, power tools and other solid state appliances which need a stable, clean power.

For camping that's probably not a concern but people looking to keep them around the house for a blackout should take note.

    • What about lights' say fluros or tungsten? Is this likely to blow them.

If so, what light tech is more hardy, leds?

      • +1

Incandescent (tungsten) are very sensitive to overvoltage. 10% overvoltage roughly halves their life, 20% overvoltage roughly 1/5th the normal life.

Compact fluorescents are also likely to be damaged by overvoltage, they are "built to a price" and usually use components with very little overvoltage tolerance.

Linear fluoros might be okay, I don't have experience in that area.

  • Are you telling me this is a sine?

Your comments seem to generate negative votes…

How do you fit 3 adults in 1 jacket?

    • +4

Illegally in most States of Australia

      • except S.A. where jackets come in size 44 gallon

      • What do you mean? Is threesomes illegal?

  • Can the SOLAR CHARGER charge an IPAD???

Is the Electricity and MilliAmps enough to charge an iPad?

  • None of that gear is mind-blowingly cheap, in fact we've bough a few of those items cheaper when they were on special at places like Ray's. I'd steer away from the generator, I can't imagine Aldi will offer any ongoing service or support for it (thought I suppose a refund from them is always an easy route).

  • My experience with Aldi is that they refund relatively easily. Anyone else have a good/bad experience?

    • They have a policy of refunding up to 60 days after purchase date.

  • Cheaper inc. postage (depending on location) and more boogie…

Still wouldn't plug my laptop into it.

  • What do you guys think of the jacket? worth it?
