They have FM radio, Wireless or wired headset functions so you can watch TV with your own headset, so you are not disturbed by others in the room, or vice versa, so you don't disturb them. Ebay auctions have these usually at $20 with shipping, or for $5 plus the usual ripoff $20 plus shipping,
If they aren't suitable you can take them back whereas buying online you have t o ship them back at your expense.
I bought a few of these last year from the reject shop and have been very impressed with performance.
