New Deals Company (SaveTheDeals.com)

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Hi everyone

I just came across this new deals website promising to provide its members for weekly $35 vouchers on everyday purchases such as supermarket groceries, petrol, coffee etc in return for a monthly subscription of $34.90.

This seems like a great deal to be able to get 4x$35 vouchers per month while paying $35 in return each month.

Have anyone subscribed to their website yet? I was just wondering if there are any strings attached.

But otherwise, sounds like a great opportunity to save heaps monthly provided this company respects all of its promises with no hidden fees.

  • Paying up front for deals you may or may not use..

    Really?

    • Yes Really??? Why was such an excellent deal moved?
Pity your 'company' oops .. .post is buried in general discussion - deal off the century. Your motivation for posting deal? Seriously I didn't bother reading / investigating after front page. Either a scam or appalling business model. Why pay for what's already free. Tip - attracting customers requires contact details - name & phone at minimum. Tip 2 - professionalism. Correct spelling & grammatical errors. Tip 3. - Don't trial on OB - tick the box.

  • Just looked at the site, looks very dodgy, infact paying up just to register is a bad sign.. Very sad to see this when comparing to ones like groupon and scoopon.

  • My TV blew up. To alleviate boredom selected SaveTheDeal to investigate. So new it's not interesting. No reason to join / promote - can't deliver. Appears operate in Singapore (Registered) but in first year operation, no (obvious) complaints Singapore but no operation / delivery / record either. Must question why STD - lol - decides to launch 4 months later in Aust - very suspicious. STD has no strong branding, name, presence or capitalisation. Back to my crusade - until silenced by STD by delivery of new TV.

  • Just did some I depth research And most reviews are "scam" one condition is the $35 is refunded in your PayPal account providing docket from purchase. So you pay $35 and get 4x$35 refunded when u actually need to pay before hand, no vouchers are given, very hard to believe this is true….. Would be more believable if actually vouchers or money was credited into your account. Stay away.

Most obviously, right after you hit register, it does not ask for your details, it it asks for is credit card details!!! We oz bargainers aren't idiots, full stop.

  • Noted the PayPal clause. Usual concerns re: changes to Privacy & Terms& conditions. . Searched registered Company - Vortex, traced borh via IP address & prior registrations. Lot more work, tine, waiting, thought - Yet business model no chance of sucess. Suspect not just seeking to data mine info (yeap - got invite) or rip small change from PayPal / Cust / Fees but in potential C/C. Plus positioning to launch other countries - Hongkong, Malaysia, India.

  • Like an idiot, I registered, thinking the $1, 72 hour trial period wouldn't lead to an ongoing $35/month, which it did without them ever asking me!

I emailed them half a dozen times about how to get the refund on the movie ticket offer, and I got half a dozen non-sensical replies.

Basically what I was asking was; can I get a refund on 2 tickets one day, and 2 tickets from another day, and they could not answer this question unambiguously, even though I asked several times!

So I thought stuff it, I've wasted $1, but now I have wasted $36 and there's no instructions on how to unsubscribe!

Will post more once I manage to get out of this idiot deal.

  • I was really bored that night and did lots of 'investigating' of Company?. I didn't feel comfortable posting the info as I hadn't confirmed BUT its so suspicious. As you didn't authorise their deduction of monies from - credit card? or at a minimum failed to understand the terms and conditions of charges buried in the sign clauses. I would simultaneously seek a refund from STD (still cracks me up) via Pay Pal? Plus a chargeback from your bank as an early unauthorised charge. There's also another thread on OB which has more info - started later in April around the 14th? Wouldn't bother asking STD questions re: honouring but rather demand refund. A fair amount of work has gone into this scam with intentions to launch in other countries. If your one of the first you may be refunded - usually how it works. Please keep posted.

  • So you guys made a payment and not reprieved anything at all? No movie tickets?

  • Well, they charged me a SECOND time even though I emailed them multiple times asking to have my membership cancelled.

I ended up having to call the bank who said the only way I could stop this was to cancel my credit card. I also put in two claims for chargebacks on the 2x $35 they charged me, because no services were provided (STD could not even explain to me the proper conditions of using the service).

Still not sure if this is a scam or just a business with lazy and terrible operations.

Sucks to be me but lesson learned!

  • I signed up and so far have received a $35 refund before I paid for my second month subscription.

I just paid for the second $35 monthly membership and waiting for my other $35 refunds. Will keep you posted.

  • Yes I have been a member for about 4 months now and I have only brought about 5 weekly deals ..say you buy a weekly deal for any burger place well u pay your $1 then you have a month to buy up to $35 worth of food from say maccas then you email them a copy of the receipt and then within about a month you get your refund into your paypal account…but also the $1 trial period isn't worth it cos you have to actually be a member when they process your receipt and as I said it usually takes them a month so if you cancel within the 72 hour period your not going to be a active member when they get around to process it…but so far so good for me .

  • Yeap so far so good for me too. I've paid 4 monthly $35 and got 5 $35 refunds so far. Not heaps of value but at least some value.

  • +1

I agree that it seems really suspicious - I mean how on earth are they making money?! None the less…. I decided to try it out and thus far have been refunded successfully for all 8 vouchers I've purchased.
I don't get how it works at all…. But I'm saving money so I'm going to stick with it.

  • Do not read the terms and conditions, they are terrifying.

I do not want to buy from a company or website based in Spain.

I warn you, your hair will fall out if you read the fine print in terms and conditions.

  • SaveTheDeals.com is a scam!

I was billed $1 and then $34 but NEVER subscribed or provided my banking details to "Save the deals".

We believe that when we booked a hotel through Amoma, they passed our details on to "Save the deals".

    How is this possible???

    Really pissed!

  • DO NOT USE SaveTheDeals.com. I was billed for three months even after cancelling after 2 months. No rebates ever received. I consider this a scam.

  • Savethedeals.com Looks like a scam & feels like a scam.

I booked some accommodation on AMOMA.com and after paying had a popup from save the deals offering a $35 refund on the booking I'd just made. No mention at the time of any ongoing charges just requiring me to send a copy of the invoice for the refund. No subsequent emails.

After the first month I get slugged $34.95 direct against my bank account. I've chased them up with a series of "what tha's?" with no reply.

Spoke to my bank who advised that it's not a direct debit but a credit card transaction using my card number. Only way to cancel it is to cancel the card.

I've fired off some extra emails to Amoma as well as canceling my card.

I've also reported the site as a scam to NSW Fair Trading.

  • while reading most of these comments it is quite obvious that many have not fully read the terms and conditions as most of the complaints here are explained in those terms and conditions, probably the best way to find out whether this is a scam or not is to contact your state DEPT of FAIR TRADING they check these people out and look into your claims of being ripped off,but those complaining about being ripped off I believe they either have not read the T&C or do not fully understand them,I am contacting the nsw dept F/T tomorrow to see if they have any negative feedback of the save the deals but to what I can see after reading the T&C from top to bottom I think they may be legit also they have been around too long for them to turn out to be scammers,,

  • more on SAVE THE DEALS they have an Australian FREE phone call 1800 xxx xxx number in their contact details i contacted them from a telstra pay phone at the local mall this afternoon, it does swing you over to who knows where but i got through to them and did not cost me a cent,a bit of advise it do not use your mobile or home phone there may be charges on them from your supplier so through a public pay phone they can not charge you anything

  • A tip on using your credit cards=apply for a DEBIT CARD and you can use that with everybody you deal with especially online dealers but you must remember to check you debit account balance to make sure you have ONLY enough to cover your purchase so anybody dodgy cannot claim or rip off more money, you must also tell the bank that YOU DO NOT WANT ANY OVERDRAFT CONNECTED TO YOUR DEBIT ACCOUNT because your bank will not allow any extra money being removed from your account as a debit account only allows the amount in your account to be spent in other words""you can only spend your own money""and of course you do not have any other expenses or fines to pay to your bank
