This is correct, they are following the exchange rate. Let's not forget that app price of .99 in the US means .99 + sales tax, while in Australia GST is included in the price.
All the more reason to jump ship ;)
Or more a reason to jailbreak and get all apps free. That will show them
Prices have presumably gone up in the US as well, cause if you do the calculation the prices are comparable to the US equivalent (assuming an 85c conversion rate) plus GST.
Rate is 92c
Today it might be, but long term (which is how companies set their exchange rates) the AUD is expected to fall and 85c is the generally anticipated value.
you need to start voting with your feet rather than a petition. stop buying apple products
^ this…
indeed
why would anyone on ozbargain use apple products o.O when android phones are so much cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The service. I bought an Samsung S4. It was faulty. The end result was 6 weeks without a phone while it was being 'assessed' and a refusal to refund until I threatened to sue them over it.
Compare to Apple where you can walk into a store (or they will post our a replacement) and have it swapped over there and then. If you broke it, then for $200 you can get a new one.
That's what made me go back to the iphone. It had nothing to do with the quality or prices of the phones at all.
I have no problem with apple product. Its their customer care that I have a problem with. Or rather, lack of customer care. Its their way or the highway.
I honestly thought it was an April Fools joke. Now my $90 App Store credit are effectively worth 30% less.
The bastards.
then join and sign my petition, the more numbers we get the more say we have! http://chn.ge/1mMGlk6
I don't think a petition would do anything, as every iOS and OSX user that buys apps would obviously hate a price increase.
So.. Apple is undoing what it did in 2011.
I guess Apple is doing what is natural — keeping their profits up when the Aussie dollar is weak.
Wonder if Google & Microsoft will do the same.
