see you guys there, there must be a long line soon

  • How long is this promotion for?

    • Sorry, I didn't ask so I don't know.

      • +2

No worries – I'll be in the CBD tomorrow anyway…

  • "Australia Post Digital Mailbox" appears to be an auspost email address. I can't see any reason to get one apart from the free movie tickets…does anyone know if this works at other post offices ? bcf going into town just for this

    • +2

I can't see any reason to get one

I believe it allows you to pay your bills more easily if you have them sent to it, which is useful for me because I pay using AusPost so I can use PayPal (and thus AMEX).

      • Can we paywave the bills in AusPost?

        • Just log into your account and tap your screen with it…

If your computer is smart enough, it will process what you want it to do.

        • +1

When I tried, the lady said I couldn't…

      • I assume PayPal allows you to use Amex as a payment source. What was your trick? In my case it is never listing Amex card as an option - just PayPal balance and bank account.

        • I assume PayPal allows you to use Amex as a payment source.

          Yes that's correct.

What was your trick? In my case it is never listing Amex card as an option - just PayPal balance and bank account.

You need to add the AMEX card to your PayPal account by going to Profile, then Add or Edit Credit Card

  • +1

Not at: 246 Flinders Lane Melbourne VIC 3000

  • anyone got an update on the queues at the post office?

  • +1

Any other post offices have this promo?

  • +4

Deal ends tomorrow. It's only during the hours of 10am - 4pm.

  • +1

Someone find te website so we can all sign up from home

  • do you need any ID to register?

  • -1

Hi All, Is this deal on today?

    • +1

Still on at GPO and bourke

      • Thanks! Will pop out at lunchtime

  • Surpringly hasn't been ozBargained… No lines

  • +1

Any more of these promotions happening in OTHER STATES?

For example, outside NEWCASTLE GPO, NSW?

    • The staff helping people to sign up seem to be additional / special staff members, not the regular LPO staff members. I reckon they will be visiting various corporate AusPost locations.

They will probably do promotions in other states, if they haven't started at other states already. Digital Mailbox service needs a lot more people and more providers.

  • Thanks! Yes no lines….

  • +3

Juicy info guys :) This promotion is running until 4pm today on Elizabeth/Lonsdale (as mentioned as above) however, it will be continuing at Collin st and Northland throughout next week.

    • +3

Awesome, off to collins st next week….

  • +2

Anyone seen this offer at any non-CBD post office?

  • +1

It's at all Aust post CORPORATE outlets.

I just got off the phone to the call centre :-)

Ok update - just queued at the werribee corporate store and I was told its only at the big superstores because the smaller ones don't have the iPads and you have to do it online :-(((

    • So, if you register online, do you still get the free movie tickets?

    • how do you know which ones are corporate outlets? …..

      • +1

I rang Aust Post enquiries and asked them.
But its only the new corporate outlets, because they're the only ones with the ipads. Werribee Plaza corporate store gets a new shop and ipads on 11th April when they move.

2 min wait at Bourke st around 1.15pm. Awesome deal.

  • Long long query now

  • 5 min queue now..

  • I walked in to Collin st / Williams rd intersection and didn't see anything. Walked out and then thought what the hell and went in again and asked the lady. She said its happening on Monday

she asked me where did I get this info, I said internet though on hindsight a more clever answer would have been"it's a secret, I have contacts"

  • Thanks for sharing !

  • Was in a queue for 40 minutes at Lonsdale/Elizabeth st today

    • I heard the lady there talk about a massive line during lunchtime, but by the time I got there, it was relatively empty.

For security Auspost should have a call center for forgotten passwords/username (like online banking) rather than sending reminders through personal email. Auspost digital mailbox is only as secure as your personal email. Also, you still need to be notified a bill has arrived through your personal email. Conceptually does this add much value to your personal email?

    • +1

Depends on what you want to do with it.
I'm NOT a Aust Post employee…. just been explained how it works around 5 times by the staff there while getting my free tickets….

Lets say you are a traveling consultant, and go on trips away from home for more than 1-3 months at a time.
You receive a bill and you don't know about it, then you don't pay it.

One of the following will happen to your bill:
      Utilities:
      1. Disconnection
      2. Referral to Collection Agency (which will also include a mark against your credit history)

Both of these have financial outcomes which is not beneficial, as disconnection will cost money to reconnect, and a mark against your credit history will be bad for further dealings with any phone companies or banks.

If you registered all ya bills with Aust Post, then you can log into your account away from home, and see if there is any pending bills. If there is, you can pay it on the spot.

It doesn't require you to notify the company (e.g. utilities company), just register it, and it will work like a mail divert and the bill will go to Aust Post's System.

Imagine it like a gateway to all your bills. Does this add value over personal email, yes, as not all utility companies support email bills.

  • Well, I can't speak for everyone but we made the switch to email bills years before Aust Post Digital Mailbox arrived on the scene. Our electricity, phone, mobile, eastlink etc bills are emailed. For us the council rates and gas bill aren't available via email. They're also not providers in the Aust Post digital mailbox. My guess is when these guys decide to go digital, bills will be available via both email and Aust Post. ..but Aust Post will be a two step process - get the email notification first then log into the Aust Post digital mailbox. Having said that, the Aust Post interface is quite nice :)

    • +1

The only issue with the Digital Mailbox is the lack of providers. Once people have all their rates, utilities and the like available, they will switch to APDM. It's not just the interface - it's far easier than email or anything of that nature, and far more secure. Only registered providers will be able to send you correspondence, so spam from shonky providers is impossible.

When it comes to pay it, it'll be piss easy - far easier than email. You'll click on the bill, click on the card you want to pay with (as you store it within the APDM infrastructure), then you're done. This is nothing like paying with email.

  • How secure is MyPost? The MyPost website claims to have bank-grade security.
So let's do a quick comparison.

MyPost allows forgotten passwords to be reset via email. The bank requires you to call them with proof of ID.

Strong passwords must be 8 characters long preferably with symbols. MyPost only requires 6 letters.

The bank has 256-bit encryption as do all other secure online storage services.
    MyPost has 128 bit encryption.

The bank has a fraud detection system. Who is monitoring MyPost for security breaches?

Wasn't MyPost supposed to have multi-factor authentication? Where is this?

Remember, MyPost is marketed not just as a tool for paying bills but also for storing very personal documents such as passports and birth certificates.

You can only pay bills via credit card/paypal through MyPost. Internet banking allows you to pay bills from other account types. Internet banking also allows you to save payees so when a bill arrives you just select a pre-existing payee from the list.

Ultimately it's a personal choice whether a person wants to sacrifice security for convenience.
Note the security breaches just a year ago:
    http://www.news.com.au/technology/australia-post-hit-by-secu…

    • +1

If you just assume it is bad according to 1 breach then don't join any of the following banks:

      St George:
      http://www.smh.com.au/business/bank-security-breach-affects-…

      ANZ:
      http://www.theaustralian.com.au/technology/security-leak-see…

Also not as secure as you would be lead to believe, with RSA Tokens:
      http://www.itnews.com.au/News/260105,westpac-bankwest-dump-h…

If you are complaining about 128bit encryption, then everybody on Ozbargain needs to cancel their 28 Degrees card because they are using 128bit encryption. Also while you are at it, make sure you cancel Paypal also, as they are using a 128bit encryption.

Everywhere seems to have their own issues, just depends on how many issues you are willing to deal with.

If you are scared of security, then don't go online at all and go off the grid.

I probably won't be using the Aust Post Digital Mailbox, don't have many bills and I can easily do it manually, saves me from remembering another log in!

  • Still trying to work out any benefit over BPay View given it that already leverages peoples current online banking service (which they are not going to give up) and doesn't require yet another online account?

BPay also has been around a lot longer, has a relationship with more providers/banks and the View service seems a logical extension for people who have used BPay in the past.

    • This will be for more than paying bills. It'll be for government communications.

  • Anyone know if its at the lawcourts post shop?
The one on William st near flagstaff station

Hi all - It is DEFINATELY on at 440 Collins St today (Mon 7th Apr) - I just went and signed up (no queue) and got my free tickets :-)
Next week they are at 111 Bourke Street PO ALL week - Confirmed by a staff member at 111 Bourke St.
She said to come in at lunchtime, so maybe they will only be at 111 Bourke St at lunchtimes.

No ID check either so I will be back to Bourke next week for more.
I wasnt sure whether to post this as a new deal, since this one now has 'expired' on it…..

    • Thank you for the info!!

  • Went to Collins St at lunch and signed up my parents.

They are there tomorrow and then move on to Northlands and return back to Bourke St in four weeks time!

    • is it still on for tomorrow?

      • Still on at Collins.
They are the same crew that was at Bourke St last week.

I recognise a few of them.

        • +1

          But did they recognise you?

        • Looked at me twice… but then was like "F" that…. explain and register.

        • +1

How many addresses have you got digitalised? ;-p

        • +1

@lplau Lucky you. I tried that but was turned away with the comment that I was not allowed to be issued the tickets twice. Not even after I explained that I was registering on behalf of my relative. But I went twice in the same day, Morning and afternoon :)

  • Thanks I just signed up in Collins St, no queue and didn't take long. Cheers

  • I went to Collins St today at 4.45pm but couldn't find any staffs holding ipad. Can anyone help me pointing out where are they going to do in city tomorrow (9/4/2014).

Also for current week is it only on Collins?

    • I was told by Bourke St staff last Monday that it starts at 111 Bourke on 14th April, although someone further up here has said Bourke St is in 4 weeks time….
I'd go on Monday and check :-)

  • Got it finally today. They are still at Collins St :)

  • Guys do I just turn up and ask for free tickets?
Will check out Collins St tomorrow.

  • +2

Hello @barbedwire - the promo is offered by separate team of staff probably marketing staff hired to run this campaign. There are booths set up for this promotion and they are meant to explain/market the use of the digital product via iPad. The same iPad is used for you to sign up. After that they give you the tickets.

  • Hello all, the sign up booths are not at 440 Collins (Williams intersection) today. Anyone know where they are?

  • They are not at 111 Bourke St either.

  • anyone knows where they are at the moment?

  • With 1,700+ clicks I'm surprised this post has not received more + votes.

  • Went into Collins St Friday lunchtime and they weren't there. Asked a staff member who told me they'd be back in on Monday :-) (14th).

  • Is 111 Bourke on today?

    • Doesn't look like it :-(. Although the lady who works here said they would be

  • +2
