Citi finally updating their website

For those who have Citi accounts but complain about their "web experience" (me included), looks like some changes are on the way. Fingers crossed.

    Finally!

This would also affect Virgin money customers - from my experience, they have the same interface and possibly the same banking core.

  • "If you are travelling overseas please ensure you withdraw sufficient funds to cover you for the duration of the upgrade. "
That's a bit odd. So even though it's just the website being upgraded, I won't be able to access my money during the upgrade?

I actually will be travelling overseas during that period :\

    • I don't believe it will impact your ability to withdraw money fom an ATM.

Some people, myself included, keep a small amount in the Citibank Plus (ATM) account and a larger amount in the Online Saver account. Whenever I want to withdraw a large sum from the ATM I will transfer from Online to Plus account before hand.

Obviously you wont be able to do a transfer during the upgrade.

      • Hopefully, but I guess I shouldn't take my chances?

      • Further down in the email it states:

Citibank ATMs, CitiPhone and Phone Banking will also be impacted during the weekend.

ill I be able to access my funds during the upgrade period if I am overseas?

Our card systems are being upgraded from midnight Saturday 12 April to 8.00 pm Sunday 13
      April 2014. During this time:

You will be unable to withdraw cash from ATMs with your Citibank Debit card, Citibank Visa
Debit card or your Citibank Visa and MasterCard Credit cards.

You will be able to use your Citibank Visa Debit card, Citibank Visa and MasterCard Credit
cards for other activities as you do today such as in-store shopping and online shopping,
      but limits may apply.

Please ensure you withdraw sufficient funds to cover you during the upgrade period.

I hope they get rid of that idiotic on-screen password keyboard. It actually makes my password less secure since I choose shorter passwords for their site, because it's such a monumental pain in the ass.

    • The virtual keyboard is to prevent keyloggers getting your password. Keyloggers do not care how long your password is. I haven't used the keyboard to enter a password in years.

      • Neither do I, I use Keepass which is also broken by their virtual keyboard.

The whole keylogger argument is BS because if someone has enough access to your PC to install a keylogger then they have enough access to do anything they want.

    • Agreed. The on-screen password keyboard is security theatre. ING's one is even worse, because it's only 4 digits long and there's no way to save it in a password manager.

and who the hell calls a major upgrade for major bank "Project Rainbow"?

Doesn't instil a whole lot of confidence.

  • It's good they are changing things a but it's only the in banking experience. The login and secure code systems will remain :-(

  • The new website is nothing special, as they are essentially copying the Citibank U.S. online interface which is hardly an upgrade to what we have at present.

  • You can withdraw money from an Australian ATM

Will I be able to access my funds during the upgrade period if I am in Australia?
