I really like a lot about the current model Grand Cherokee but I keep hearing little comments about this problem with shock absorbers and that problem with the electronics etc, etc. I know all cars can have problems and don't want to focus on the negative reviews at the expense of a balanced view so I thought I'd see if any of you could help.
Jeep Grand Cherokee - Current Model - Are they reliable/worth owning - Thoughts ?

Nothing like a bit of cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias to completely set out of sight and mind a very real and very serious test (the Moose Test). Some people will be simply ignorant of the truth when it doesn't align with their consumer purchases.
My housemate has a Jeep Wrangler - pretty much the only Jeep worth buying in their entire lineup. The thing is a little beast - we've taken it 4WDing a couple of times and it always surprises us. He has a fancy winch installed, a lift kit and bigger tyres though so it's not your average urban parasite SUV, though.
Why do you want an SUV? Your typical family wagon (Skoda Superb, Commodore wagon) will do almost everything the SUV will do, and you'll look like a hell of a lot less of a (profanity) driving it around.
looks like the 2014 model has improve in the moose test.
http://www.carscoops.com/2014/01/see-how-updated-2014-jeep-g…watch the 2012 model video and compare it against the rest, it is indeed a very dangerous vehicle.
Haven't you seen the ads where the people look at the person who bought a Jeep and say "You bought a Jeep?"
They can't think of an actual reason to recommend that you buy one of their cars. So instead make an ad so you'll see the responses you'll get from Friends and Family if you are fool enough to buy one.. (that's my take anyway)Whilst not a Grand Cherokee, friend of mine bought a Patriot and it was an utter POS, went back multiple times until he sold it a year later at a loss…
JEEP = Just empty every pocket
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for more than two years and never had any problems.
Have a 2012 JGC Laredo CRD been a fantastic car to date, no issues at all

My friend bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee, I warned him about the Jeep moose test and he said it is just a dud test and is not true. Look up the moose test for yourself though.
Now the friend has owned his car for about 6 months it has been off the road twice. The first time for a fortnight because they couldn't work out why there was a fuel issue and the second time was for a week with suspension issues, neither of the times they would provide him with a courtesy car.
He now can't wait until his lease is up on the Jeep.
