What to do with inherited jewelery?

My partner received a bit of gold and diamond jewelery and a brand new (still boxed) designer handbag from an aunty that passed a way.
She's not into jewelery/designer labels and would rather invest the money if it's worth anything.

So what do we do with said jewelery and hand bag? How and where would we go to get it evaluated and then where would we sell it once we have a value? We don't really want to go to a pawn shop or Cashies as we'd like to get a fair price at least.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • The bag should be easy enough to find a value for (search online) - just sell it on ebay/gumtree after you get a price - just make sure you make it cash on pickup only or be very careful if sending it (don't send overseas)

    sell the hand bag,

pass the jewellery down to your children or nieces and nephews as a family heirloom. start a tradition.

  • Thanks for the advice guys.
I've looked online. The hand bag seems pretty rare, from a limited run out of Italy. I've only found one sold on ebay that was used and in a bit of a worn condition. I think it sold for $200.

I'll have a look at getting the jewellery valued, but from what I've read and heard jewellery doesn't seem to hold much re-sale value in general.
