I've seen a big limitation in search functionality that it doesn't search the results according to any order. If it's difficult to provide a way to search the way the user wants it, at least it should default it to descending order so that the most recent post will come to the top.
However it's just showing it in random order. so you never know if the one that you are after is hidden in 100th page unless you keep going to the next 100 pages.
I saw this limitation years back and thought it'll eventually get fixed when the site gets popular. However I still see this as a limitation and never got fixed.
So I am suggesting this as an improvement to the site. Thanks for maintaining this site as it's been a great place for bargains so far.
It does. Search keywords appearing on the title get more weight. Keywords in the post content get less weight and keywords appear inside the comment get even less. There's also weight on the date/time posted — and then the whole result set is sorted by the number of "points". That's our attempt on listing the more relevant posts first.
Alternatively you can sort by reverse date. It has been a frequently requested feature (someone even asked about it last week) which we have already provided a solution last year.
