Recommendations on 11-13inch laptop with > 128GB SSD and less than $1000

Hi everyone,
Ive been researching for a while but just thought I'd put it out there for advice on laptops which has an 11-13 inch screen, > 128gb hd (or I can put in a large ssd myself), and less than 1000aud.

Any suggestions?

    A little over $1000 but this laptop is a powerhouse for the size and price.

    Great for games. But if your not looking at games I'm sure you will find many much cheaper options.

    Macbook Air is the gold standard for someone who just wants a laptop. If you want something else, you would need to be considering some specialist needs. Do you have any specific needs in mind for your laptop?

      Gold standard for someone who wants a laptop running OSX on a low-res TN screen, maybe. The only one under $1k is the 11.6" if it's on sale. 1366x768 on the 11.6", 1440x900 on the 13".

    Thanks for the comments thus far.
    Ive never used apple and don't really intend to learn in future…
    I will be using the laptop for general web surfing, watching videos, ms office, travel etc.

    Ive been looking at the asus x200ca but it gets mixed reviews.
    I currently have an old asus eee with ssd!

    Thanks dmc900. Just had a look at the Horize w110er and it looks like something im looking for.
    If I choose to buy the hd separately from amazonit will work out cheaper- but is installing a ssd in these laptops difficult /possible?

      Horize should be very easy to upgrade. It was made to be customizable after all.

        Installing an SSD drive or Sata SSD is only a matter of 3 to six screws, installing the O/S on it is another matter.
