Best in ear headphones $40?

The other day i received a pair of fake sennheiser cx500s from ebay, i am in the process getting my money back and am looking at what else is available. I have a fairly wide taste in music but i predominately listen to metal so they have to be pretty good on the high end. Previously i had a pair of skullcandy titans that got ripped up by my cat and i was pretty happy with those. So what not-completely-rubbish in ear headphones are available for $40, i know i wont get anything spectacular for less than $40, but i cant stand listening through the stock apple ones.

    By 'headphones' I'm assuming you actually mean headphones.

      I meant in-ear headphones, like the sennheisers i mentioned

          I bought a pair of these from this recommendation. The sound quality is astonishingly good for the price. Where does all that bass come from? It's like a magic trick. Thanx, plmko.

    Vsonic GR02 $36 beautifully balanced or
    Brainwavs r1, they're about $45 heaps of bass, but are over ear, which is an issue for some.
