Selling off new phone from the post-paid contract?

My post-paid contract have finished. I'm pretty happy with my phone and thinking of keeping that for another 2 years. Looked at going to SIM-only which but realised I can get a half decent phone for an extra $10-$15 a month on contract. So the phone would cost me $240-$360, if I can sell the phone for more, that means my SIM contract is less..

Is it possible to get a new contract with a phone, then subsequently selling off the new phone is there a market for that?

What does everyone think of that idea?

  • yes, many has done that. have a look at the Classified forum

  • If you're paying that much for a SIM only plan, you're doing it wrong.

Have a look at guys like TPG, Boost or Vaya.

    • and Telechoice :D

  • The sim only plans should be cheaper than standard plan by $10-20 because they are not providing a handset so it may not work out to be $240-360

I use Lebara national unlimited unlimited calls/txt and 2GB data for 29.90

  • With a mobile phone contract you can do what you like with the phone from day one. The contract is between you and the telco and does not involve the phone.
