  • Is this a down spec Miele just for Godfreys?
The regular Mieles sell for less than the recommended $399 shown here.
Has been on a few times before…

As a Miele lasts a very long time I would spend the extra and get the real thing.

    • we blew a motor on our miele after 2.5 years….no warranty cover
was not so impressed! (though the vacuum worked pretty well)

have since bought the hoover 5000ph Mode from godfreys ($399, not the 499 listed) and have never used anything quite like it in this price bracket….

You could have just got it fixed under Australian consumer law as the cleaner can be expected to last at least 4-5 years in normal use (which I assume you come under as you did not specify it was for business use). They would have fixed it. Even Apple acknowledges this now. I assume of course that the Miele cost more than $50! ;-)
Do not let companies tell you otherwise - if they refuse, take them to your state's small claims court. In Queensland it costs $22.20 with no risk if you lose. However, every time I did it I won as they know very well what the law specifies. They just get away with it because people do not do anything against their lies and deception. In my humble opinion you wasted $399 on a new machine which was not necessary.
By the way - all Mieles I know have lasted at least 10 years, if not longer. One of the best brands there is for household appliances.

        • Now that's interesting. It's news to me. Where can I find this specific law?

        • Member since 2009 and not aware?

        • I have read various leaflets on the consumer laws but have yet to come across one that says vacuum cleaners should last 4-5 years in normal use. Why does Apple come in on this anyway?

        • The law specifies that goods should last a 'reasonable time'. 2.5 years is not a reasonable time for an expensive vacuum.

        • A $1200 laptop should also last a reasonable time - meaning 4-5 years at least.

Yeah this model should sell for $199 normally, definitely not worth the $399 RRP. I recently picked up a S5211 Turbo from Harvey Norman for $305, would definitely recommend it over this one. Its not actually listed on the HN website, but if you call around your local stores many have a few left over that they are clearing off.

    This sucks ….. +1

  • I bought this model during last year's sale and i'm really impressed by the suction. I don't have any pets, so cannot comment on that part, but I never even used it at max power because the suction is so strong it makes it difficult to vacuum on carpet. no regrets buying it

  • Is this vacuum assembled in China? Godfreys special?

    • Yes it is made in China and it is Godfrey only model. I bought it during last promotion. Can't fault it's quality. Works way better than my $50 Piranha. As to whether this will last 10-15 years like the German made Mieles, hard to tell. But it's a good bargain at this price point for a Miele

Miele make GOOD vacuum cleaners. Quieter and stronger than another brand that is colourful and overhyped.

  • has anyone got the new S8 series?
haven't seen any deals for them

are they worth the price over the S5?
