Woolworths Wish Card

Today when I was at woollies earlier today I purchased one of those master card woollies prepaid cards for $3.95. With my wish card, and that went through easily, but when I tried to top up the prepaid MasterCard with my wishcard, the system rejected it, the staff had no idea as well. The eftpos machine said no cash out as I swiped it. Does anyone know if using the wish card would be fine to purchase those $20,50,$100,$200 prepaid NON reload able cards since the woolworths master cards don't work, I believe the other cards are like $5.95 for the card compared to the others, cheers!

I'm not sure what the prepaid Mastercard is, but if it is a regular prepaid Mastercard, of course it won't work. You're trying to top up a prepaid Mastercard for $100 (for instance) with a card that you can easily buy for $95. The wish cards are intended only for purchasing products from Woolworths stores. It lets you purchase the card for $3.95 as you're purchasing an item, but not top up something.

That's right, because you can get wish cards for 5%, and you can use your Mastercard for everything, of course you can't use the wish card to top up your "effective bank account".

If you could, you can use $95 to top up $100, then go buy more wish cards at $95,with $5 to spare and top up another $100 and the cycle goes around and u are infinitely rich.

  • Won't work because loading money onto those woolies pre-paid cards is considered by the system to be a cash out transaction and you can't cash out of a wish gift card (that's my experience from previously working there).

Previously, you weren't even able to put money onto those pre-paid cards via credit card, because Woolies didn't allow cash-out via credit (I think you can cash out via Visa Credit now).
