Thanks for this! Just sent them an email.

    What is this?

    • +1

YNAB is accounting software for personal use, and it is really easy to understand for people who have no training in accounting. It runs on PC/Mac and you can manage receipts and budgets directly from the app on iOs or Android.

Well worth getting if you need a budget.

From a quick look at the website it seems to be budgeting tips and tools (e.g. software).

I'll give everyone a free budgeting tip, & you don't even need to be a student!!
Don't spend more money than you make/get from Centrelink!! Simples, as the meerkat on the ad for Compare The Meerkat would say :-)

      • +12

where can i find this meerkat? i need to kill it.

        simples

  • Great budgeting software. Has smartphone apps as well so you can track your expenses on the go. There is a free 30 day trial available to all, but the full license is $60, unless you score a good $15 steam sale deal.

  • +2

Damn, I already have the steam version.

    • +5

which you will have for longer then any education enrolment period you might have.

  • +3

FYI, I bought this and is worth every cent. Of course you can use Excel and that's fine. But the App makes it seamless, everything is backed up with Dropbox.

I can't recommend this enough, I did only pay $15 on Steam for it. But if I knew how good it was back then, I would have jumped at the $60 price tag as well!

    • +1

It's $60 now? Wow I got it for $15 too.

  • +2

I've been using this since the start of the year (new years resolution: lrn2budget) and it's not bad once you get your head around the methodology. Their tutorials online are fantastic.

For non-students, wait for a Steam sale to get YNAB cheap. I think I got this for 75% off during the last sale.

  • Hope this support automatic bank record retrieval in future. I'm using pocketbook ATM solely for that reason.

  • +2

I want Simple to come to Australia :(

    • +2

      Closest oz equivalent is pocketbook…

      • Thanks for the pointer, will check that out

If you're not a student and you want a true Bargain ($free) then you should check out the Money Smart website: https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/tools-and-resources/calculator…

They have a budget planner (https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/tools-and-resources/calculator…) which allows you to save online by signing up for an account.

They also have a Money Tracker phone App (https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/tools-and-resources/calculator…).

I have not used YNAB so I don't know if the Money Smart has all the features that YNAB has (I'm guessing it must have extra features), but if you want a basic budget planner that is free for EVERYONE then Money Smart is the way to go.

Here's my budgeting advice. Set up your firewall to block ozbargain

  • I bought this from a previous bargain for something like 20 bucks! This sucks :(

  • I use this in conjunction with Pocketbook. Great tool.

  • +1

This software has changed my saving and spending patterns for the better, I even spent $60 on it and I have no regrets!

    • +1

Me too, I spent 15 when it was on sale on steam. Best 15 bucks I ever spent.

      • Yeah, I hit the $15 Steam sale and I'm glad I did.

  • Got my key last night. Thanks OP

  • Just sent them off an email! Thanks OP!

  • what did use as their proof of enrolment? I sent an invoice for the semester subjects
