Sounds like a cheaper, faster (?) Raspberry pi
Cheaper? Hardly, but this runs a custom front end which lets you play games and includes a controller. This is a good option if you are looking for a cheap XBMC box, but then again, you'll get a much better deal spending a few $ more and getting an intel NUC if you want something with a bit more grunt and versatility.
misread the title - thought it was $25.
$25 credit - Offer ends 11:59 PM 03/25/2014
Which time zone is that again??
Since it's Amazon and their headquarters is in Seattle USA it would be going by United States PDT time. It's still tuesday morning 25th March 2014 in the USA.
Thanks. Pulled the trigger, will have a play.
At the least may be a useful XBMC/Plex box with some emulators.
Rather the kids play rough with this than my PS3/360.
OUYA == FAIL
Can you stream HD Movies through the Ouya and does it get coverart and info on the movie?
You can install the Android version of XBMC on to it. If you do that and set up the relevant scrapers and plug ins you can.
Just depends on what source you are wanting to stream HD movies to it.
But it's still an Android box, right? Not like they'll stop making games for it, since it can play any Android game…?
Only really suitable for android games that support game controllers though. There is a touchpad but thats not practical.
I love my Ouya, i do prefer spmc over xbmc for compatibility reasons. Games wise it has some neat little multiplayer couch games (we play Killing Floor Calamity, Towerfall, and Hidden in plain Sight mainly). The controllers have issues and while you can sync your own PS3/xbox controllers, a lot of games wont recognise them unfortunately. The above mentioned work fine.
Still, a great little device that i suspect will be a solid indie platform for a while yet.

All I can say is that my thoughts on beauty and ergonomics are total opposite to those of the designer who created the controller and box (complete with silver paint). No sale. Though I'm voting this one up for those with less aversions to (IMO) terrible design.
XBMC does work pretty well on my OUYA but one thing to note is that XBMC on android doesn't change refresh rate to sync with the video that is being played. This can cause a weird jitter in the picture with 24fps movies(American TV is already 60fps so it plays HD TV shows without a drama).
I ended up using an old laptop for XBMC instead.
Though I do like the NES/SNES/etc emulators on it the controller D-pad pretty much hurts your thumbs. I hear a PS3 controller works really well for it though. All in all I have had a tiny bit of fun with my ouya and the thing that made me stop using it after a week is that considering the delay in shipping(I preordered) my metabox P150SM gaming laptop arrived 1 week after getting the OUYA and when it came down to spending time playing bioshock infinite on pretty much the highest settings or No brakes valet… BI won.
This may be the reason why this game console has been slashed in price.

Wonder if you'll need a 240v to 110v step down power transformer for the power brick?. Is the power brick a universal 110-240v or not that is the question.
Its got a multi voltage power brick….
That's good.
Is this a good option for Netflix? Been looking at the Minix x7 but not sure if I should pick it up. Does the Ouya support 2.4ghz wireless keyboard via USB receiver?
If you plan on getting Netflix, why not a Chromecast instead? Works great, as long as you have a dd-wrt enabled wireless router which you'll need with the Ouya anyway.
Mine was used twice and it was such an awful experience I haven't touched it since. Terrible controller, bugs, crap games. If you have any other game console, don't bother. If you have a PC don't bother. If you want to stream movies, buy a Roku and check out http://www.unblocking.tv
I don't think so. I have both Ouya and PS3 setup for netflix and the Ouya seems to force it to a lower quality stream and I haven't been able to tweak it.
I got one originally via Kickstarter - Its running XBMC nicely. Haven't had a huge amount of time to play with it, but have purchased some generic PS3 Bluetooth Controllers to run with it.
