I.e. Forepost needs to divest their risk onto others on an urgent basis because bitcoins is going defunct?

    • +2

What do you going defunct. It is already defunct. No one is keeping bitcoins anymore.

      • +1

yup its that crash that people knew was coming eventually. it may have a slight recovery later on but who knows. definitely no value in buying at the moment tho.

this deal is the worst kind of spam… selling a (currently) valueless currency to try and cover there own arses. not a very OzBargain thing to do

You seems to be rating Bitcoins as an INVESTMENT. Something we discourage at Bitcoin community (as opposed to using it to pay for goods or services).

We, at forepost.com.au, just sell the service of purchasing Bitcoins. Please rate the bargain accordingly.

        • +2

We, at forepost.com.au, just sell the service of purchasing Bitcoins.

So… please explain to me what anyone would be buying then?
If you say you're online selling the service of purchasing bitcoins, you're not actually selling bitcoins?

        • Bitcoin has no intrinsic value. A poor "investment" IMHO.

We are still in the early days of crypto currency and it's just pure speculation.

Check the XE.com chart for the latest price, showing approx $AUD 616 and the general trend is downwards.

I was mining the alternative currencies for a few weeks. Just wasn't worth the cost of electricity.

I wish I had a time machine, a currency is only valuable if you can trade it. I can't see any ability to buy goods with bitcoins.

    • +3

Yeah, no way you can buy anything with them, since there are only thousands of vendors that are in Australia or ship to Australia:

      https://spendbitcoins.com.au/places/

And you certainly can't just buy gift cards for Amazon or anything, and there aren't new major vendors accepting Bitcoin ever week at the moment…

(It's not a deal, but what's with all the derp in this thread? Surely OzBargainers are tech savvy enough to understand a little bit about cryptocurrencies…? Butthurt over the crazy GPU prices, maybe?)

      • I think the current slump in the crypto market is killing the used GPU market. Heaps of months old 280x's aren't even being sold for $300 on OCAU…

          Finally!

      • Well I'll be damned, thanks for that post!

How many of those places DON'T accept cash (credit card, paypal, etc)?

You're exchanging something that can be used everywhere, for something that can be used at a limit number of places AND has dropped in value over 50% in just over 3 months.

And you're doing it by doing a direct deposit into someone else bank account, at a time when countless BitCoin exchanges are going out of business/bankrupt/etc.

Seriously man, I've got a bridge I want to sell you…

        • Seriously man, I've got a bridge I want to sell you…

is it close to that seaside apartment you were telling me about near alice springs? :)

        • Wait… Selling tangible things???

    • +1

There's a pub in Woolloomooloo that accepts bitcoins as payment.

  • +3

give us all your monies now! no exceptions!

  • +4

Rate is well below the going rate. Even with no 'commission' this isn't a good price, even if buying BitCoin was a smart move…

I've got some Zimbabwean Dollars I'll sell without commission too - just put some money in my bank account and I'll send them to you!

Do you have any 100 trillion dollar notes? :P

    • You could burn paper dollars to keep warm or use them for insulation.

        Like this?

    Spam

  • +4

Supposedly "no commission" but about 3.5% built into the exchange rate. Thanks but no thanks.

  • +1

    Specify the quantity please?

  • +3

    617 AUD elsewhere.
    Not really a deal.
    More like spam.
You'd be silly to invest now.

    • +1

      Agreed. Price is going down.

I actually want to buy a little if it continues falling, but not now, and not from here.

Bitcoins are $574 on igot (buy or sell, same price, but with a 1% fee. Not sure how reputable they are, but they take bpay and I managed to buy $40 AUD worth and transfer to my own BTC wallet successfully, a month or so back when they were $500, so no probs so far).

So REP you want us to put out bitcoin wallet key and our email in a non encrypted page right?(pic's link)

  • Thought i'd try with some dummy data…

    Oops, an error occured

This exception has been logged with id 6hjko4199.

Used Alex V's gmail. (yes, rep, you know who)

    • Cheers for the report, we are looking into that.

You're welcome. Now to get an answer on the other questions:
        - If you say you're online selling the service of purchasing bitcoins, you're not actually selling bitcoins?
        - Qty available

  • At least put the link to your secure page, rather than asking people to send bitcoin wallet and personal details through an unencrypted page. No excuse, you have a premium SSL you should be using.
