inFAMOUS: Second Son $64.98 @ Dick Smith (Online) + $4.95 Delivery

560

Was browsing the interwebs for the cheapest price for Infamous Second Son as I realised it comes out tomorrow. Stumbled upon this gem, not bad for local stock though it's a shame about no free postage as it would make this deal even sweeter!

  • Seems like a pretty good deal to me! I'll probably bite.

  • +2

Really good price for Australian stocked ps4 game. Kinda surprised since this game has quite a lot of hype behind it.

  • Free ship on orders over $99 so if you need something else for $35ish or you could find a mate that wants one and buy two.

  • +2

Same price in store I believe.

    • $69.98 instore, but you have to preorder.

A mate of mine pre-ordered in store in Melbourne CBD for $65 hmm, maybe a staff mistake then? You linked PS3 btw, not PS4.

        • +2

          Only on PS4

        • +1

Oh yeh of course, wasn't thinking lol just saw the address.

Edit: See confirmation below of same price for in-store preorders!

  • Will this deal be available in store?
when i try to order games from dick smith i get this:
"The Postcode you have entered is invalid.
We are unable to find the postcode you have entered 'undefined'.
Please check that the postcode is a valid Australian postcode and try again."

    • Just goto checkout if it says that.

      • Yeah i tried that, next to "shipping method" it just says:
"Sorry, no quotes are available for this order at this time."
Then attempting to place the order tells me to specify a shipping method.

    • +1

I called my local Dick smiths, You have to pre order in store for instore pick up tomorrow, (69.99 if you pre order today) it will be 79 if you dont, The online one is delivery only, which is stupid in my books.

  • +1

I pre ordered in-store earlier this week and the guy behind the counter confirmed pre ordering with $10 knocks off $10 from the regular price (as per the catalogue).

At the time, it was $79.98 down to $69.98 when pre ordered. Hoping the $10 off is still valid on the new price. Either way, pretty excited for this game.

  • It comes to the same as DSE's pre-order for $69. Still the cheapest local copy anywhere around.

Picking up my pre-order tomorrow, hopefully they can match the online price and I only have to pay $55 more. :)

  • +4

Dont know how its gona be tommorow, but today Preorder for $10 and Pay $54.98 tomorrow, In store,

    • Are you saying if we have pre-ordered for $10 we only have to pay $54.98 tomorrow?

      • +1

Put down $10 by the end of today, we refund the $10 when it's picked up, and resell it at $54.98. (in the same transaction)

So techinically you only pay $44.98 tomorrow, but the total will be $54.98 yes.

Just confirm with the store that stock is available, cause I know we only got 3 copies, and they're all taken for pre-orders now.

        • Wait, that sounds too good to be true…
          $54.98 total?

        • I've already paid $10 for pre-order, so shouldn't I be paying $54.98 tomorrow since the price of the game is $64.98? I'm confused. I even called up the store where I have pre-ordered and they guy said $65.

        • Hasn't the $10 off preorder deal already expired? Please confirm.

        • +2

Alright so the $10 is more or less a deposit which basically just means we're holding a game for you for sale.

When you come into the store tomorrow, in the one transaction we refund the $10 deposit so you've got $10 sitting there for the game already, we put in a pre-order specific code for the game and combining that with the $10 you've already put down, the TOTAL of the game comes to $54.98.

BUT since you've already put down $10 you're technically only paying $44.98 tomorrow, since we add the $10 you've already put down onto that.

Can be confusing (I even have to think about it at times) but you only pay $54.98 for the game in TOTAL.

And according to the update from head office, you'll get it for $54.98 if you preorder by close of business tonight.

        • so your saying $65 is the instore price? i go in say i want this game here's $10 deposit .. i get $10 back tomorrow and pay $55 for pre ordering it?

        • But the cost of game is $74-79, minus $10 makes $64-69 - which is this online-only deal or in-store deal.

Where do you get the 'original' $64 value from?

        • +1

Pretty much, they just put the $10 towards the final cost.

So $44.98 plus the $10 you put down, making it $54.98.

          Pre-order - $54.98
          No Pre-order - $64.98

        • Where is proof that the game is $64 original price? The only proof I see is this deal linked in OP, but that's online only I thought?

Awesome deal if DSE considers $64 original price … but it's $79 in catalogue so I'm confused. :\

        • I just went to the store and put through an order, they took a $10 deposit and told me to pay off the total amount of $64.98 tomorrow.
Didn't clarify it and just hoped for the best…

Did I need to ask him to put in any pre-order codes?

EDIT: Can confirm there's a YG10191PREORDER on my receipt

        • That's just the product code. YG10191 would be the code for the actual game.

    • +5

Do i need to quote this or should the dick smith staff know. every time i go in there it seems like they don't even know their own deals are?

      • ^ +1
        This worries me….

        • +1

Depends on the staff, if they're updated by their manager, or if they look at documents from head office themselves.

They should all know about the $10 down, $10 off deal for preorders by now. We've been doing it for a while now.

        • Everyone knows about the "if you pre-order, we'll take $10 off total price! Only $10 deposit required" … but the original price is $74 AFAIK, you're saying it's $64.

        • +2

I believe it was originally priced at $89.98, but they changed the price yesterday for in-store and online to $64.98 which will be the promotional price until the end of March.

You'll always get $10 off the Launch price of the game. So even if you pre-order when it was originally $89.98, you should have only put down the $10 deposit (assuming the game is in our system with a catalogue number followed by PREORDER e.g. YG10191PREORDER) and you'll get the game $10 cheaper than our launch price.

        • I see, okay. I'll check out the local store tonight. Thanks ,sir.

        • i dont suppose they is some type of official memo or what not about this, i spoke to dick smith about this today and they had no idea what i was talking about.

        • The only official thing I can think of is this: Online price WAS $79 before, with no option to add the -$10 offer. Online price is NOW $65…. I can only assume that this is system-wide. No change has been made to the 'pick up in store' delivery options ..

As for the -$10 pre-order offer, there should be promo signs around the games section, and even some with Infamous promotion too.

  • I just called DS in Garden City WA and they told me that the price will stay at $64.98 until the 24th. So there is no need to pre-order today. Just walk into a store and pick the game up or get it price matched at EB Games.

    • +1

But the rep is saying..if you pre-order it today, you buy it for $54.98 not $64.98

  • I bought about 2 hours ago and just got a dispatch email from Dick Smith. Wonder if it could arrive by tomorrow?

  • This is really good for a true next gen game (1080P) looks amazing.

  • Damn it, I just bought the game a few days ago for $76 at DSE because of that 11% off deal. I should of waited a little longer :(

    • +4

      Dear Valued Customer,

With the release tomorrow of the highly anticipated game "Infamous Second Son" we would like to advise that your order will be shipped today. Customers within metropolitan areas should receive their orders tomorrow.

Dick Smith has decided to drop our price to a hot $64.98 and will be passing on the saving to you; in the form of a partial refund.

Depending on your financial institute this may take up to 3 business days to process.

      Happy Gaming,
      The Dick Smith Team

      • Oh wow! Thank you so much!

  • Update from Ausgamers, who also claim that DSE pre-orders are $54.98 till the end of march.

    http://www.ausgamers.com/news/read/3423584/psa-infamous-seco…

  • Was holding off on getting this game but at that price ($54) I couldn't resist. Thanks, OP and reps.

  • Just went into Dick Smith to pre-order. He checked for stock and they had some. When he came back out he said I'll just need $10 off you today and I said sounds good. So $54 is definitely possible.

  • I can confirm the total price for Infamous second son is $54.98 if you preorder today in store. The $10 preorder deal means you get $10 credit on the final price which will be applied when you pick up the game tomorrow.

Had a long chat with the guy at my local Dick Smith store just now.

  • Well I posted the deal when it would be $70 in store. i did see this deal but didnt think the price would have been dropped in store as well. I think the title of this deal should be updated. $55 is a steal. Lets hope that pre ordering it when the price was $80 not $65 will not matter and they honour the new price :D

  • +3

Catalogue price is no more. Now $64.98 until the end of March. Extra $10 off if you pre-order by the end of the day. So yes, $54.98 in total.

    • Store Guy in North Sydney said the final price is 65 not 55, what do I need to tell the guy tomorrow to get the $10 off?

      • +3

Tell him he is wrong and to read the memo which was posted last night.

        • Any chance you have a copy of the memo loll they dismissed whatever we said

        • The guy who served me was clueless too. Fortunately the manager knew his shit and sorted it out. Get them to ask someone else and don't give up. Assuming it's not too late that is.

        • i pre ordered it yesterday just in case the guy didn't have a clue whats happening, i went in today to pick it up… and they go oh we don't have stock.. hahahahaha unbelievable…

        • Was afraid of this which is why I went straight in the morning

        • yeh i should have as well but had everything melt down at work… thought id cheer myself up and get the game at lunch but nope… just ended up p*ssing me off even more.. hehehe

        • Mind sharing which store that was?

        • North Sydney branch, I go so can I get it on Monday guy goes Ummm if the stock comes in… But I don't know if it is or not… Loll this looked like the manager too… I could only shake my head

    • Also can you confirm that its not Online Only, like many of the Whirlpool members are being told by the store staff in the last 10 mins?

      • +1

Not online only. Definitely applies in store.

  • -7

    Seems like a good deal.
Typical dick smith nonsense tho that when they run a deal most staffhave no clue the deal is running or how it works.
Dick smith really need to improve their staff communications and education system.

Allthegood publicity theygetfrom running good promos islost by the bad pressfrom not keeping to deals, wasting 20 mins in store checking head officeand making customers look like cheapskates for expectingdick smith will actually keeptotneir deals.

Everytime igo un store thestaff havnt heard of thedealrunning and havta look it upetc.
Last time icalledaheadandwhen igot there igot a ' sorry we cantdothe dealwe said ucud have over the phoneas the product is locked on our system'

Second rateservice at dicksmith as usual.

    • +8

You need to search for a deal on a new keyboard with a functional space bar dude!

    • I'm sorry, but before you accuse someone of having "no clue", you should probably make sure your critique is actually coherent.

  • I tried asking the staff at Nunawading about this price and had no luck, they tried to fob it off to just being an "online only" price and that it would be $79 on release while sticking to the $69 preorder price.

    • Definitely $64.98. Price was reduced on the system this morning.

  • Called the store at 5:29pm to make a pre- order over the phone but they said can't be done….missed out (they did!)

    • +1

You need to place a $10 deposit in store, in person. So, obviously, cannot be done over the phone.

      • -1

I offered credit card but they didn't want to take it. The point of in store pre orders is getting people back into store. Not everyone can do this on a thursday when thwy close at 5:30. I would have come into store to pick it so the goal of getting me into store would have been achieved and as they didnt accept my over the phone order I'M not going to buy it and won't go in store so nobody wins…

  • Is the $10 off for preordering available for online preorders as well?

    • Need to know this too, its not reflected at the checkout but its ass backwards to punish online shoppers.

I'm also having difficulties using staff discount, no signs it can not be used on pre orders…..

      Come on dickie boy!

      • I don't believe it's available with the $10 off online, and at the moment staff discounts are not available online.

        • Err why the frigbeans are the staff discounts not available? dickies have gone out of there way to say discounts are cool, whats the issue now?

  • Went to a DS store. Place the preorder with a $10 deposit for pickup tomorrow. Awesome deal, thanks OP and Reps. At $55 this is a true Ozbargain.

  • Just rang three places in Perth, they all had it for $65. Only one of the three knew about the $10 off when pre-ordering.

Just depends where you go it seems.

Gonna pre-order tonight, thanks for that op and rep!

  • Pre-ordered instore with $10 deposit, will be getting it for $55 :) Great bargain!

  • I ordered the online one and less than 30 minutes later it was marked as "posted"

  • Just to clarify I pre-ordered around 2 weeks ago when at $79 so I put $10 down for $10 off so tomorrow I have to pay a balance of $59 (total therefore $69)

So now store price is $65 my balance tomorrow should be only $45 as I've put down $10 and get $10 off??
    - Rep is this correct just want to know before I pick up tomorrow.

    Thanks

    • Yes that's correct.

  • Asked about it in store (Townsville)
    - One staff member said 79
    - The other staff member said 64.95 in total, so paying 10 dollars now, I will pay 54.95 tomorrow

I might as well just price match at eb games, given their return policy if I dont like the game

    Thanks for posting!

  • This is a confusing offer… At least gets us professionals talking about it so I guess DSE mission accomplished…

  • I preordered the game tonight (late night shopping night in Adelaide) and I asked the chick behind the counter how much the game came up in the system for and she said $79.98. I asked her about getting $10 off with the $10 deposit and she said she didn't know if it was still on and I'd have to check tomorrow lol.

My raincheck says I owe $79.98.
My YG10191PREORDER slip says I've put down $10.

Except what I gathered from store reps and associates, the price in the system should have been changed already?

  • the price was $79 until yesterday, most of the staff wouldn't have noticed.

The actual price of the game as gone down to $64.98, whether you have pre ordered or not.

If you have pre ordered, there is a another deal, most of the pre order for game will say Pay $10 to pre-order get $10 off when you buy,

so if you had a pre order already, the price for you will be $54.98.

EDIT: The info is correct at least for Sydney, not sure about other places.

  • I Pre-Ordered yesterday at around 1pm for $64.98 with DSE. It's now on-board for delivery with the driver this morning. Great turnaround!

  • Picked up my Pre-Order this morning from DSE Paid $54.98. Thanks OP.

  • Can also confirm, $54.98 pickup this morning, no problems, didn't even need to mention it

  • Went to Dick Smith they insisted price was $79.98. Went to Kmart to try and price match, they called Dick Smith and the same douche bags said $79.98. So I used my $20 coles myer gift card got it price matched and paid $79.98 ($59.98 cash). Still annoyed could of just got for $64.98 if they weren't some rude pricks

    • +2

File a complaint with dick smith ho.

  • Picked mine up and paid the $44.98 balance owing. Guy tried to charge me $69 but I called the manager over and he sorted it out. Great deal, thanks OP.

  • Get this game…. Day off and loving it…..

  • Bit confused, can the DSE representatives or others clarify: is it $64.98 - $10 preorder discount, so its $55? or $64.98 is AFTER $10 pre-order discount? Also given I only got the memo today from ozb, 21/03/2014 - can i still order it instore OR online and get the discounted price?

If someoen could reply asap that would be great, would try to pick a copy up tonight from instore if so. Or can we get the same discount/deal online?

    • Also just wondering the OP or anyone else has a good website (or does the ps4 official site come with it) that shows release dates of upcoming titles? Just be good to keep an eye out for future deals like this or a way of seeing who's selling what. Didn't even know there was this deal posted yesterday (20/3) until the ozb email this morning, which at pre 6am isn't really going to help if we had to preorder yest?

Just wondering though if a rep or anyone can confirm if I can still go instore today and get the $55 deal? or preorder etc?

        • Thanks - only notice 4 titles for aus.

Is that because more are relased through yr, or a short while before the actual release date - so they spring it ony our pretty quick? or are release dates pretty well transparent/released ahead of time?

        • Those are the only 'confirmed' releases. They'll update it as soon as more releases are confirmed.

      • As far as i'm aware, the $10 off to make it $55 total, was for pre-ordering of the game only (i.e. yesterday at least).

Today in store it will be $65, I rang up three places all checked their system.

The new current price is $65, online or in-store, at least for the next few days.

        • Ok, so no use/point me ringing up the Perth CBD stores etc to try and get the preorder price of $55???… pushing the envelope but would really like the game at that price, otherwise not a huge gamer and still have AC4 and COD that I bought to play, so might hold off if at $65… but then $55… too tempting to resist! :)

If i buy online is it instock to be shipped vs if I go instore will they have stock still do you reckon?

If anyone has further news on trying to get the $55 total price instore on today please let me know.

When did this $10 off/price change occur btw? Just yesterday - or was it the last few days and I was just blind/should've checked ozb more?

        • According the the reps all I can gather is that any preorders with DSE has always had the $10 off
It just so happens DSE kept dropping the price of Infamous to $65

        • Oh - so all preorders, for any games made online or instore always have a $10 deposit, but you also pay $10 less for the game than the RRP DSE is selling it for? And of course based ont his post- they adjust your final payment price if they do any sales on it prior to launch date, so you don't feel jipped??

  • -1

    OUT OF STOCK :(

  • Are Dick Smith preorders meant to come with DLC or is that just for other places?

    • Nope, only the overpriced editions (97 & 123 for the special and collectors edition respectively) have the cole legacy dlc. My plan is to YouTube it. Screw them.
