Moto G - Will this phone work on Australian networks?

Hello Ozbargain!

Will this phone work on Australian networks? Specifically Vodafone.

http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Moto-Global-Unlocked-16GB/dp/…
All it says is "Optimized to work with 3G (UMTS/HSPA+) networks when roaming outside the US" (even on Motorola's website). Vodafone does support HSPA+ for 3G, from what I've read.

I know it's such a stupid question, but I'd rather be sure before I make a purchase.

If anyone has bought it from overseas, how has your experiences with it been? Both Amazon and the phone. Does the connection drop more often than other phones? Is mobile data fast enough? I own a Nexus 5 and this would make a great gift for someone who owns an older, beaten up phone.

Thanks for the assistance in advance, I'm sure other will benefit from this too.

    Hi mate,

I saw these in the latest Officeworks catalogue today, and they are also unlocked, carry an Australian warranty and cost only slightly more (considering exchange rates).

It's not on their website yet, but from memory, was only around $238?

Jb was a little more expensive I think at just under $250

    Thanks for the post!

      Goose,

I took into consideration the warranty, but people are pretty careful - especially if they're still rocking out with their iPhone 3GS. Thing is, OfficeWorks and JBHIFI don't offer the 16GB version which is obviously a huge concern as the device doesn't have expandable memory and 5GB isn't sufficient for media in my opinion.

Thank you for the links, I'll definitely consider them and keep an eye out for changes in prices!

The Global version is the one you want.
It supports all Australian Carrier's 3G frequencies.
