Here's the direct link for the Metal Gear Solid V stuff
The website still has $47. The catalouge is discounted at $44.
I just put that up because the link you had was showing audio avalanche and couldn't find the games listed.
Could be in store only (for now?)? Did anyone pre order it online for $44?

$47?
Heard this is quite a short prologue?
Story mode is approx 2 hours. There are side quests that apparently take up alot more time, but don't know if they are any good
Kojima said it's very open world so the entertainment comes from doing the same missions in different ways so you need to play it 4 times or something. so side quest + 4 play through maybe you can pull 10 hours. with the traditional MGS movie sequences maybe it's a 20 hour games.
Some people have finished it in less than an hour. Plus, the 'side' missions are all in the same area, so it is indeed an expensive demo.
Plus for those who like trophies on ps3/ps4 it doesn't even have a platinum trophy!
Apart from being expensive for not much, no platinum was the nail in the coffin for me :(
From what the reviews are saying it's 30 minutes if you rush through and 2 hours if you take your time and search for everything. Many are calling it a very expensive demo.
Please note that the website still has $47. The catalouge is discounted at $44.
I really wish the movie companies copy this business model, like one price for one game/movie regardless of the format of the content.
Currently all movies are cheaper on the low resolution DVD and like 30% more expensive for the HD blu rays. they should have a uniform price like video games.
Video game prices aren't uniform as a rule. PC is frequently the cheapest and often older generation consoles are cheaper than the newer ones. Digital distribution may add additional variations too.
The price is only for this one game :( Current gen games are supposed to be same price as previous gen but Australia inflated the price to make PS4 games more expensive.
All Hail Australia "tax".
But ps4 games costing a bit more makes is logical since your getting the 1080P higher definition version. just like how blu ray movies cost more than DVD. if they both the same price then someone with both a dvd and blu ray player will but the blu ray everytime.
theres always price/quality trade off. like how icore 7 cost more than icore 5 etc.
Isn't this a dupe?
No, I guess not. The other guy didn't mention it in the title.
Not sure about the PS4 version or Xboxen, but the PS3 version is AU$25 on Australian PSN, and that comes with a bonus digital copy of Peace Walker.
Nice find!
I think I will still want to play it on PS4.
You should be able to play that a week earlier than the physical copies too
Is the game anygood?
No reviews out yet. Since it's delayed in Australia by a week, we should have plenty of reviews by the time it arrives here
I'll be youtubing (watching) the game lol. Save myself the $44
you could buy the game from EB then return it within the trial period if you want to experience it but not actually own or pay for it.
MGS hasn't been great since the PS2 days so I'm just wondering if it's worth my $$
If you aren't sure then just wait. It will be interesting to see how many copies hit ebay within a week due to people finishing the game so quickly.
To OP and all buyers: JB have updated their main page ( http://www.jbhifi.com.au/games/ ) to show the date as the 20th, which seems right according to other sources.
720p 1080p.. whats the difference ultimately?
if the gameplay is the key.
they should release a PC version since the engine is actually written as a PC engine first.

If you can't see the difference you don't deserve to comment on resolution.
EDIT: Another image related to the game

I'm mean, yeah sure I'd prefer 1080p over 720p, but are you seriously going to care once you're deep into the game? If you're concentrating more on the graphics than the gameplay, then the game is shit.
You seem nice enough.
If I can choose between 1080p and 720p, of course I will choose 1080p.
It is not as if the game starts off as 1080p for the first half and become 720p towards the end. Your statement does not make any sense.
The reason for new console is to improve graphical capability and to implement new technology (DX11) and improve shading, lightning to provide users with more realistic and immersive gaming experience. What is wrong with that?
I want my games to look as good as possible does not mean I want to throw gameplay away. I have no idea what games you were playing until now to have such a silly mentality.
Are you telling the whole gaming industry to stay retro just because gameplay > graphics? Come on.
All I'm saying is that we've gotten way ahead of ourselves in terms of next gen graphics. Sure, I would've loved if Microsoft made a console that was capable of 1080p out of the gate, but there are far more to the games than just graphics.
It's like comparing games that have amazing dazzles with little substance (Killzone and so forth) or games that have substance over graphics (Dead Rising 3). I personally prefer a well made game over pretty graphics.
I know these are silly examples to some degree, but if the game is multi-platform, then it really depends if the higher resolution of one console (PS4) justifies why I prefer playing on the Xbox (like the controller). There are small things that separate each console.
I guess what I'm getting at is, the resolution war is stupid.
no one complain flappy bird needs 1080P with realistic graphics of the bird smashed down..
but we complain how hard it is…
THe game is good, little doubt, I saw that as sort of kick starter demo lol
they may as well release the game like World among us and walking dead.
just as long as they don't do it like Half Life Episode X
You seem nice enough.
You seem like you can smell your own kind… Burn!!!
How old are 1080p monitors and TV's?
Even our DTV is very poor quality.
In the olden days we had a choice to watch Home and Away in 1080i
What I am saying is that 1080p is an old standard
I used to play my xbox 360 a lot until I ran a side by side test of MW2 vs Pc
The difference was shocking especially when you game on a HDTV and especially if you are running anything bigger than 24 inches
Microsoft was counting on sports and cable tv connectivity and went cheap on gpu
I would have looked forward to playing a real next gen halo but I'll probably have to make do with the old 720p on a 64 inch. Pixel per inch nightmare, just look at how bad a wii looks on a massive screen!
it's not worth buying a new console for, but if you've already got the PS4 or you're about to choose a console to buy, 1080p obviously trumps lower resolutions.
there is no downside to having 1080p games.
Edit: if this is about the resolution war and the huge lashback from the X1 doing 720p most of the time, I believe the anger is fueled by the fact we're getting new "next gen" consoles, yet they perform the same as the older consoles we already have.
Of course the graphics will improve with the new hardware, but resolution is an easily measured factor when it comes to graphical performance.
I agree. Playing some 720p-ish games on PS3 and the details are low, and shrouded in blurring effects to try and hide the fact that the details (and draw distance) are low. But playing the same game on PC even on low resolutions and the amount of detail and clarity is night and day (I'm referring specifically to Grid 1/2, GTA4, Saints Row 3 as examples). As you say, resolution isn't everything.
I'm going to have to call bull on those images though, 480 is nowhere near that bad
Definetly, and in game image, right side is definitely not 720p. Marketing use similar image to focus anything new to lure buyers. I am sure when 720p was new, they used even sharper images to market how good 720p is.
More res is good, not doubt. But no where close to what these pictures trying to impose.
Agreed. I just created a similar comparison by;
1) taking a 4k image (a poor choice as most of it is out of focus anyway)
2) shrinking it to 1080, 720 & 480 separately
3) enlarging the shrunk files back upto 4k and putting them all side by side
I'm no expert (so this technique could be completely wrong) but that is how I would create a side-by-side comparison of different resolutions being displayed full screen.
I was going to upload it, but it's 15405x2160 and 47MB :O
Here's the shrunk version http://i.imgur.com/Zqn4oti.jpg
It was nowhere near as bad as the previous image. Noticeably different yes, eye-bleedingly bad no.
These images are very misleading. To promote newer & higher resolution models, lower resolution pictures are intentionally blurred/pixelated. Even on a source page for the game pic, it mentiones:
Note: the shot at the top of the post is just an artistic rendition to showcase the concept, and it’s not representative of the actual looks of the game.
So like most ps4 xbox one games this is a good looking port?
$44 sounds pretty steep for a demo anyways. I thought it was going to be around $30
I'm buying the PS4 version digitally with my US PSN account. $30 of PSN cards from Amazon, and it's available at midnight on the 18th (America's midnight, that is), rather than the 27th.
Yep oz and no delayed a week. Konami not a fan of ours it seems
Here we go…
