Home Alarm continues to beep, unless powered off - Need advice.

Hi,

I don't remember the code to my home alarm and tried to turn it on but figured out that it keeps on beeping unless I power off.
The model is NESS, L 8-97, have downloaded the manual but it doesn't quiet clarify anything. Looked at whirlpool but didn't address the issue.

Do I have to open the actual power panel to reset it so it doesn't beep and I can get into programming side?
Can I just reset it from the keypad?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.. Any expert in north Melbourne area?

  • A quick Google search brings up two different manuals for this system - a User Manual and an Installation Manual. The Installation Manual is much more comprehensive and looks like it gives a better explanation of programming the unit (from page 16 onwards).

Mine did the same. Needed a new battery.

    • What sort of battery does it take? Any ideas?

  • Could need a new battery, or in the case of a 'back to base' alarm, might have lost connectivity to the outside world.

The actual alarm panel box will have a 12v battery back up. It must be coming to the end of its life. Look in the manual to see what kind of battery and how to replace. You can also try googling a video for your alarm. You will find heaps of this battery on ebay. I changed mine after 7 years. Most are good for three yrs.

  • I have a Bosch which allows you to peek into logs for faults and activity history. I would think the NESS has likewise? As others have already summised, most likely it's the backup battery on its way out - or something else :)

  • Any suggestions where can I buy the backup battery from? I m in Melbourne, North side.
Thanks for the valuable suggestions above. Appreciate.

  • If it is the battery, try http://www.batteryworld.com.au/store/battery-world-fawkner Best to take the old battery in for correct match up and disposal.

If you remove the battery and using the product identification on the side you should be able to do better price wise via Ebay. Just make sure the terminal lug size matches as there are generally two sizes for this sort of battery.
