Cheapest decent Physio around Adelaide, or West of the city?

Here for work at the moment & looking to see if anyone knows of a good Physio anywhere West of the city, or around Adelaide?

I nearly fell over laughing when Back in Motion quoted me $73 for a 20min consult. I pointed out that that's more per hour than my electrician, emergency plumber, conveyancer, family doctor or even solicitor charges & they actually tried to justify their price with a straight face.

Anyway, any tip's would be greatly appreciated. Physio 4 Life on Port Rd is the cheapest I've come across so far, at $59 for the initial 45min consult & then less for the 30min follow-up's.

Ive been going to physios for last 10 years, Seen all types of shonky ones…

Im in west too, But I travel down to Physio Xtra marion (Just opposite marion hotel) They are $54.50 for 30 mins, not sure about initial consult,

I know they have a city branch as well as others,

The reason I keep going back there, Is if my physio is busy on the day i need a treatment, I can go confidently knowing I will get just as good treatment from the other staff.

They are a hands on, get the problem sorted, Not a ill talk to you for 10/15 minutes or put a heat pack on your back for 10 minutes.

thing is, i'd have a lot more respect for a physio that actually knows his stuff. a good physio should have as much knowledge about the body as a doctor and be able to identify and resolve or refer problems promptly and without hesitation. considering electricians, plumbers etc just do repetitive jobs that aren't all that difficult but charge ridiculous call out rates + labour + inflate parts.

if i were a competent physio, i'd probably charge around that for a first consult to stop timewasters/idiots that think every little creak or twitch in their body is something serious.

    • Sweet baby jesus, you honestly think a physio is anywhere near comparable to an MD ?

i didn't say that but i think a good one can be 'in the right ball park' to the right treatment depending on injury.

having said that, some MDs (particularly GPs) are dangerously incompetent to the point that your life is in danger if you don't educate yourself and make your own decision based on what they have told you and what seems logical. IMO you should always just think of your GP as a Level 1 helpdesk operator, they can solve the simple stuff but usually need to escalate to the real doctors.

i respect a good physiotherapist a lot more than chiropractors, podiatrists, natural therapist (modern day witches that they think can cure anything with a bit of lavender oil and quinoa).

I'm a physio myself, I don't know anyone particularly in Adelaide however I'd recommend non-franchise physio practices such as back in motion if possible. That's not to say the physios at such places aren't good, just saying that you can get quality physios for a better rate.

If you're not in a good financial situation I would also recommend considering community health centres which usually charge $7-$14 per session (can vary between 30mins-1hour depending on your condition.
