You won't find anything but big brands and mainstream hair products like gel at supermarkets or chemists.
If you live in Sydney, I buy pomade from Deus Ex Machina in Camperdown. It's custom motorcycle/cafe/apparel store that sells cafe racer stuff. If it's not to your liking, you can buy American Crew branded pomade on eBay.
You can buy pomade at Culture Kings for $24.
Try stores that specialise in hair products, like HairWarehouse, PriceAttack, catwalk.com.au and hair salons with a large shelf of retail products.
I have been using Uppercut Deluxe Pomade which is pretty good, around $24. I know General Pants and some of those stores sell it or Culture Kings (I am guessing it is the same pomade referred to above) or you can buy it online - http://www.uppercutdeluxe.com.au/pomade.html
Go to a shop like Hairhouse Warehouse? Or your local hair salon?
